08:12 AM ET 05.13 | All-SEC cornerback Janoris Jenkins may have found a new football home. Jenkins, who was dismissed from the Florida football team last month, is strongly leaning toward enrolling at North Alabama, his attorney said. The Division II school is coached by Terry Bowden, a former Auburn coach and the son of former FSU coach Bobby Bowden. On Wednesday, the senior from Pahokee entered a written plea of not guilty on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana, said Gainesville attorney Huntley Johnson, who represents Jenkins. Johnson indicated that a deal could be worked out to avoid a trial. Johnson said Jenkins, who was kicked off the team after his second marijuana-related arrest this year, is also considering Valdosta State.

I didn't think northern Alabama (or anywhere in Alabame) had legalized marijuana. It seems he would be better off at a place that has legalized it.

Terry Bowden has carved himself a niche with guys like these and guys that can't qualify for Division 1. Most seem to settle down once they get to NA.

I think the young man could use some sage counseling from an all pro. Call Ricky Williams.

Valdosta State has had some fine football teams... never boring to watch.

This is just one of many cases that highlight the athletes as gods syndrome. So long as they can perform for someone, their complete lack of maturity, common sense and accountability will be overlooked. Seriously, a kid can't figure out that a free college education, assuming he takes advantage of it, PLUS a shot at the pros, is not worth laying off certain recreational activities?

Based on the former Vols that have ended up there, I'd say "yes".
