Tight security on Giants ramps

The security presence on the two spiral ramps at Gate D of Giants Stadium was overwhelming Sunday during halftime of the Giants' game against the Vikings. More than 25 state troopers and 50 security guards patrolled the multilevel ramps. The scene at Gate D was markedly different during halftime of the Jets' game against the Steelers the previous week, when several hundred men congregated on one of the ramps and chanted at the few women in the crowd to bare their breasts. If the women did not comply, plastic beer bottles and spit were launched in their direction. There were about 10 security guards standing near the bottom of the ramp.

Good thing they brought in the police....

Night sticks, tazers, and handcuffs sure make it easier to make the women "bare their breasts"

It was a Jets game that happened at, not a Giants game. Of course there were no problems.

Now they were spitting on the woman? Anything to boost the story... Who cares...

great, thats 10 security guards that weren't watching for suspicious items. instead they were babysitting drunks.

A crew of beefy cops and reserved seating at the local drunk tank are two pretty good weapons to handle a gang of slobs with a snootfull....

November 26, 2007  09:17 AM ET

They could have used all those cops for Eli on Sunday.

November 26, 2007  10:15 AM ET

Typical. Every time the stupid Jets fans cannot handle their alcohol, Giants fans have to get cracked down on too.

It started with cutoff for beer sales at the end of halftime instead of the end of the third quarter. Then no sales at night games for several years because Jets fans ripped rows of seats out during a Monday night game. Now, a huge police presence at the Gate D spirals despite that there has never been any incident similar to the Jets incident during a Giants game.

I know, I know, we have the snowball game, but that is as much on the stadium people not clearing out the snow before whatever fans were attending a 5-10 team's game on the last day of the season. Very few season ticket holders at that game, believe me.

Funny what a few days of national sports media attention will do....but then again it was the Giants who took steps not to be cast in the same light as the Jets.

Every FN thing.

Not to be off topic but:

All decent people should care. Kudos to the Giants for being a classy organization. The Jests are the most classless, unprofessional organization in the NFL - and their drunken, loser fans are even worse.

The Giants are not a class organization. Their seats are sold for decades to come and they never spend any money on talent whatsoever.

November 26, 2007  11:38 AM ET

Why not just use some video equipment? We have some up here that is just gathering dust!

November 26, 2007  11:53 AM ET

How is their seats being sold for decades to come a sign of them not being a classy organization?

November 26, 2007  12:02 PM ET

It was silly to post the security guards for a Giants game....

Have you seen some of the women that attend Giants games....they would make Cloris Leachman look hot!

You'd have to be "pretty drunk" to want to see that kinda "show"!

I've always felt that the J-E-T-S fans were some of the best in the league. I think its just a few bad apples spoiling it. Who goes to a Jets game to see fun bags anyway.

The only thing that really matters here is:

Vikings - 41
Giants - 17

Go Vikes!

Go Vikes!

ocpete | 11/26/07

I'm mildly suprised that the Vikes have been able to be competitive despite losing AP for a few games.

I'm even more suprised that the Bears won yesterday...turned the game off after another Grossman turnover (his 2nd fumble I think) and thought "Well, that about seals the deal on the Bears". Bears D resembled the defense I remember from last year at some points in the game.
