06:22 AM ET 05.14 | Steelers president Art Rooney II and coach Mike Tomlin may not have to say much to running back Rashard Mendenhall about his recent comments regarding Osama bin Laden and 9/11. That is one of the benefits of having a veteran locker room, where younger players are expected to fall into line. Several team leaders, including defensive captain James Farrior, said Mendenhall made a mistake by voicing inflammatory opinions on a social media website. They said they expect Mendenhall, who turns 24 next month, to learn from the fallout of his Twitter posts. In one, Mendenhall questioned how planes flown into the World Trade Center could have brought down the Twin Towers "demolition style." Mendenhall since took down the post.

Social networking sites: Now anyone can demonstrate abject stupidity to an ever-increasing audience!

May 14, 2011  08:07 AM ET

Twitter especially is the worst and saddest form of social networking (which by the way is making this country more and more stupid). I don't understand how someone in their right mind (or isn't a 13 year old girl) would even consider twittering or tweeting or whatever stupid **** it's called, how many time a day do you have a stupid thought your better keeping to yourself, if your like me pretty often, now people put those stupid thoughts out there and once they are out there you can't get them back.

Depends... has Mendenhall also espoused radical but rational views on women and their place in relationships?

You have a point.

Farrior and Harison should discuss it with him with a sock filled with quarters. Ward is also displeased

Veteran leadership is why the Steelers are always at the top of their Division and Conference. The young guys fall in line or they are gone!

I understood what Rashard said. We all need to ask ourselves if celebrating a death is ethical. Rashard went to far when he tried to make it like OBL was a decent guy with his own agenda.

No... not enough games w/o a helmet. Someone needs to smack some sense into Mendenhall. What an idiot.

In the case of this particular death, I will celebrate with glee.

Meet thine enemy with love, Jesus said... if he's your enemy kill the MF'er and party til the cows come home in celebration, pretty much every Christian since then has said. It's a human thing...
