09:01 AM ET 05.15 | The Marlins asked MLB to allow them to play one season-opening game at their new stadium in 2012 (likely against another National League East team) and then immediately go on the road. The Marlins intend to book boxing, soccer and some college football at the new ballpark.

No one goes to Marlins games. They have to earn money somehow.

sharing the stadium with football is particularly bad for the team and its fans. It will have seats far away from baseball action, bad sight lines, a ridiculously big foul territory and an infield pitted from 22 footballers.
