Writing on wall for Big Baby

08:11 AM ET 05.16 | Glen Davis may have played his last game for the Celtics. Davis wants desperately to start -- and get starter's money -- and that won't happen here. It's also not a good sign for Big Baby's fans that Rivers signed on for five more seasons. The two men simply don't see eye-to-eye, and their relationship only got worse during the last two months. Davis' timing is also bad on two fronts. It's tough to be a free agent heading into a possible lockout, and he pitched into a horrible slump just in time for the playoffs. Still, his status and pre-slump value considered, Davis is probably Ainge's best chip in a sign-and-trade package. He remains the most versatile frontcourt player on this team.

I think it's safe to say Doc was looking for a bit more from Davis after Perkins left.

He didn't help himself in this years playoffs. He may be Big Baby... but he's not big time. Good luck Glen finding that starters job.

He is NOTHING but a 7th or 8th type of guy...Nothing more....Its funny bc I remember some Celtic fans talking about how Rondo, Perk, and baby were the pieces to build around when the "Big 3" leave.....lol

I think he could add a lot to a team as a sixth man... maybe even start... on a team with a serious lack of size.

But his attitude is what will hold him back. Crying on the bench isn't something we expect from a seasoned player.

Ziggy, can big baby actually start?

Where is my Heat lose to the Bulls thread? Come on Fannation, get on the ball!

The difference between a bench guy and starter is consistency Baby clearly doesn't have the mental make-up to be a starter you can depend on (if you are a contending team)The guy still has value, but he needs to commit to his role and accept it

Agreed.

I said "serious" lack of size. He has a string body and is willing to out it on the line defensively.

He's a tweener when it comes to the forward spot and lacks a little of what makes him a good fit at either one. Not tall enough for a PF and too slow for a SF.

But he does hustle and has a pretty decent jump shot ... when it's falling. Which isn't as often as it should if he wants to be a starter. He's like a misfit toy. He just doesn't fit in!

He is a tweener is why he cant be a starter.....To short to guard other pf...and to slow to guard sf....

By the way where were you when the Celtics were taking a beating by the Heat last week?

I had the day off after the game... I don't sign on to FN if I'm not at work usually.

Besides... there are so many trolls that lurk just to get the chance to kick people when they're down I decided.. why give them the pleasure?

If it's really important they'll wait around.
