Crawford would listen to Celts' offer

08:06 AM ET 05.16 | Though it wouldn't exactly qualify as a fountain of youth, it may be an upgrade. Jamal Crawford earned $10 million in the final year of his deal with the Hawks and is now a free agent. He should be one of the more attractive players on the market because of his ability to score off the bench. Crawford is 31 and said he wants to play at least five more years. The question is whether he would take a mid-level exception -- if that exists under the new collective bargaining agreement -- from a team such as the Celtics. Crawford clamored for an extension from the frugal Hawks but the club didn't bite. He is the type of player who would interest the Celtics, and he would likely listen if it meant a chance at competing for a title.

A basketball story in the football thread? Looks like someone needs an extra cup of joe this morning.

Just think he would actually be younger than 4/5 of their starters....

The Bulls could use his scoring coming off the bench. Add him to the mix and they would be a very hard team to beat.

Im waiting for a certain headline to pop up here on truth and rumours: "Crawford to the Heat?"

I will be very surprised if that didnt happen.

Can boston make a deal?

The bulls dont need him. They have their bench already. Plus, Crawford isn't so good on the defensive end, not sure he is what the Bulls look for.

If the Magic could some how get this guy and get rid of Arenas. It would really put the Magic back to become a contender

Krover is not that great on defense, add a potential 6th man of the year to your bench is making it deeper.

Crawford is not the answer to changing that team around into contention. They need another big man to help Howard on the defensive side. Getting rid of Arenas is a start but Orlando lacks in size and toughness in the paint.

Take your talents to Venice Beach, Bro.

Forget Crawford.. the Celtics need to find a way to get Josh Smith out of there and let him get attitude training from KG for a year - he and Jeff Green could start with KG and Pierce coming off of the bench.

Williams and Smith for Allen, Davis, Kristic and that rookie PG kid (Can't recall his name). Make that happen!

So, folks want to trade the Hawks, minus Johnson for the Celts minus the threesome. LOL!

Here's the deal: The Hawks needs new ownership because they need to keep Crawford. They also JUST found a decent PG, because Teague decided to play well in the playoffs. And Josh Smith will play well, but you almost need to call him out or take out negative ads for him to play well all the time.

As far as the Celts? They need to get younger. They need to have a few bad years by blowing that team up and get younger. The only piece I would keep is Rondo and Doc Rivers. Everyone else should get younger.

Crawford is a BEAST. He will help any team he goes to.
