McNabb or Feeley in Philly?

Eagles coach Andy Reid said he believed Donovan McNabb would be ready to return to practice later this week and ready to play. It would be fortuitous if McNabb's sprained ankle and injured thumb kept him out one more week. That would give the coach a chance to see A.J. Feeley play one more game, to find out whether last night's performance was a fluke or whether Feeley is simply ready to be a frontline quarterback.

It was 215 am over here......I was fading in and out of sleep. I would wake up and see the score about every hour. I couldn't believe it. I didn't see Feeley play.....but here is my take.

McNabb should get healthy. Sit out a couple of more games and play the last couple. McNabb probably (95% Sure he won't) will not be back. The Eagles have to see which QB will replace him. AJ Feeley was good in his first stint with the Eagles. A QB needs time to prepare for Starting and Succeeding in the NFL. When I say time, I mean 3-6 years. Almost NO QB's come right on the schene and dominate. Feeley or Kolb. But if Feeley is showing flashes in games, practices, and scrimmages....Why not?

McNabb will be in a Bears uniform next year or Vikings.......

November 26, 2007  07:12 AM ET

Feeley always plays well as a Eagle, whats the deal??? Is it the air or something in the water??? He sucked and blew chunks in Miami and San Diego......

November 26, 2007  07:15 AM ET

Feely is a backup, and nothing more. Never was starting material, he has a good game now and then. 3 INT last night killed their chance to knock off the Pats.

November 26, 2007  07:31 AM ET

Greg Lewis doing Moss' 'splitting the defense' celebration was hilarious.

November 26, 2007  07:36 AM ET

Feeley led them on a playoff run, Whalers.....He has played better in Philly than anywhere else for some reason......Philly and McNabb need to break ties, it happens sometimes.....McNabb going to the press about being a black QB, he isnt the reason they are struggling, you want me to paint a picture for u???

November 26, 2007  07:38 AM ET

Philly wasnt supposed to do squat against the high and mighty Pats......If McNabb had played, the Eagles wld have won

Watch out for Pitt, a better team than Philly with a dynamite passing D, the Giants......And laugh all u want Pats fans but the Ravens have a defense, especially a pass D that cld stymie Brady more than Philly did......

Wldnt surprise me if Ravens won a low scoring, 16-14 or 17-16 game......As long as McNair is on the bench!!!

November 26, 2007  07:58 AM ET

roxalot is that the same vaunted Ravens Defense that just got shredded by Phil RIvers? and on that note I would hardly say that Brady was stymied last night ( 34 of 54 for 380 yards and a TD, mix a bunch of drops in there and a TD taken away on a bogus PI on Moss)

I give a ton of credit to the Eagles they played with a ton of heart last night. Eagles O & D line played they're games of the year and still came up short. I don't think you will see that poor of a defensive effort from the Pats, if anything I think this will help motivate them.

November 26, 2007  07:59 AM ET

Almost...

November 26, 2007  08:10 AM ET

Djroxalot, Steelers, Giants and that amazing D in Baltimore, give me a break. Have you watched these teams get beat by some of the worst teams in the league or was that just my highlight film. Some team may catch lightning in a bottle but to expect them to beat New England is just nonsense. Keep cheering for your second rate team and praying for a Patriot loss. Great game Philly, you should be proud.

November 26, 2007  08:19 AM ET

No, this was a case of an Eagles team finally playing up to its potential. An easy thing to do when you have a QB who isn't throwing dirt balls, and an O-line that is actually creating a passing pocket.

This is the type of football the Eagles usually play, every other season. The no holds barred go for the gusto type game they played last night. And if they keep playing like this...we will be in the play offs. It also wouldn't hurt if the Eagles actually rated their own players more accurately. Why the heck isn't Greg Luis more involved in the pass game? If he were released tomorrow..he's the type of player New England would jump on fast and quick....

Feeley earned another start.

November 26, 2007  08:58 AM ET

Both Garcia & Feeley can light up Philly and McNabb hasn't. That says something.

November 26, 2007  09:03 AM ET

Pennstater is correct. McNabb is done. Eagles looked like a new team last night. Should have beaten the Pats. I can't believe there are so many 5-6 teams one game out of the wildcard race.

eagles will probably explore how they might look without mcnabb for some of this season. to consider if they are ready to dump him in the off season
