Montoya: Running for $5M bonus makes no sense

01:47 PM ET 05.16 | When race day for Randy Bernard's $5 million Las Vegas challenge rolls around, don't expect to see Juan Pablo Montoya on the starting grid. While in Indianapolis last week, Montoya explained how the risks far outweigh the rewards for participating in the IndyCar challenge. "Of course I've given it thought; I'm a human being," Montoya said. "But you've got to understand that time-wise it's nearly impossible. We're running Saturday in Charlotte, which means no qualifying [for IndyCar]." Montoya cited the expenses that go along with traveling back and forth from Charlotte to Las Vegas as a considerable deterrent to trying his luck in the race that will reward a non-IndyCar driver with a $5 million bonus if they win the series' season finale. "Look, I've run the numbers a little bit, and by the end of the race if you don't win, it's going to cost you a lot of money," Montoya said. "It makes no sense, you know what I mean?"

This simply confirms it. He was already smart enough to fluently speak at least 2 languages.
Smart enough to dump F1 and it's shenanigans to move to the slower pace of NASCAR.
Smart enough to align with Chip.

We'll find out. He used to try that double didn't he? Or was it the Indy/Coca Cola 600 pair?
Was that before he went NASCAR and was still in open wheel? Or was he in NASCAR and he went back to run at Indy?

Stewart was already in Nascar when he started attempting the Indy 500/Coca Cola double. I think I remember him doing it a few times and I think that Robby Gordon might have done it once or twice as well.
