08:17 AM ET 05.17 | The Reds are hoping usually flame-throwing Aroldis Chapman's recent inability to throw strikes is a physical thing. The club placed him on the 15-day disabled list Monday and recalled right-hander Jordan Smith from Triple-A Louisville. Chapman won't throw off the mound for a week or so. Chapman was shut down for four days earlier in the season. "It's like we did last time," trainer Paul Lessard said. "We'll treat him to get a calmed down so he has a pain-free range of motion before we start cranking. After a couple of days, it should be calmed down." Chapman did not have an MRI. "It was symptomatic like it was the last time," Lessard said. Reds manager Dusty Baker thinks Chapman will return when the two weeks are up. ... Chapman says he's been dealing with the problem for some time.
