08:15 AM ET 05.17 | Josh Johnson, April's NL pitcher of the month, isn't having a great May. [Johnson] has failed to produce a win since April 19, coming up empty in each of his past five outings despite allowing one or no runs in four of them. Monday was another of his low-run, no-win performances. But injury was added to insult when Johnson was struck in his right forearm by Carlos Beltran's hard one-hopper up the middle in the fifth. The pitcher finished the inning after being checked out by the trainer, but didn't return for the sixth with what the Marlins reported to be a bruised arm. He and [Edwin] Rodriguez said afterward that they didn't think it would cost him to miss his next start.

He has a ERA of well under 2 so not sure why the writer is saying he isn't having a great May.

Yeah - W/L is the only stat the writer cares about.
Johnson's 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA and 56 SOs in 60 innings. What more does this writer want?
Some people did that to Felix Hernandez last year. Said he didn't deserve the Cy Young cuz he only had 12 wins. But the Mariners as a team sucked. They couldn't BUY Hernandez a run when he pitched those 1-0, 2-1 games. Votes showed that he was dominant in the other categories.
