Vigneault wants to see the old Torres

08:28 AM ET 05.17 | At one point this postseason, Raffi Torres was lost. If you've followed this postseason at all, you can likely imagine when it was. Just back from a four-game suspension for a regular-season, blindside hit on Jordan Eberle, Torres entered the playoffs in Game 3 against Chicago. In the second period, he levelled Blackhawks defenceman Keith Seabrook behind the Chicago net with a shoulder-to-head hit that temporarily knocked the Canadian Olympic gold medalist out of the playoffs. ... "I just started thinking too much out there," Torres said this week. "So I sat down with A.V. [Canucks coach Alain Vigneault] and he said: "Just go out and play the way you play.'" Unless he did, Torres was not going to be effective. Unless he did, Torres would not be playing in the NHL beyond this season. And while it didn't happen instantly, the 10-year veteran did eventually find the game that made him so valuable to the Canucks this season.

as opposed to the new soccer style embelisher?

May 17, 2011  09:00 AM ET

Yep...he has certainly turned into an embellishment specialist the old Torres, Harry...

I may be misunderstanding the article, but it sounds like he wants Torres to be the cheap shot artist he once was and to keep laying people out. Forget about suspensions. No?

Its pretty obvious that the Canucks have made the conscious decision to skip winning with class, if they win. They've been diving like there are judges scoring them on it, and throwing these questionable hits, then complaining about the reffing.

They interviewed the one 'nuck yesterday and all he said was "It doesn't matter how we do it, as long as we win." Lets you know the frame of mind they are playing with.

I'll bet you even like to watch the movie Slap Shot more than a Canucks game, huh? Just kidding Hank!

:-)

I tell ya, I've never been one to stop watching just because my team is out, but I can't seem to drum up any level of caring for the Western Series at all. I want both teams to lose and the East be the Cup Final I think. No problems watching the Bs or Bolts, but I'm struggling to watch the 2 teams in the West who have one player between them that I like in Boyle.

Worst part is that I KNOW this is my last month of hockey till October, yet I just don't care...

I hate this diving crap....save it for the soccer field. They should just start fining guys for this ****. There seems to be a concerted effort on the players parts to turn this into a World Cup type diving spectacle instead of the NHL playoffs (It seems the Canucks have mastered it). Next thing you know we'll have the guys stretchered off only to reappear moments later on the powerplay...

Yeah...that's a good idea Hank...
In fact, it is giving me inspiration to put up my top 10 about what I am missing about the playoffs this year too... But that will have to wait until after rehab today.

The number one reason I don't want the Canucks winning his there **** diving! It drives me crazy!

The west is a worst case scenario right now for sure. But given where I live, I want my beloved Sharks to put their foot on the forehead of the Canucks, **** the hammer and put them down.

I don't need the fever running wild here now to increase.

And it's looking like we will be watching hockey well into June. FUBAR? You bet.

That's what I thought. The Nucks do seem to embellish a little ;) and there has been some nasty incidental contact going on out there. I also noticed that the Nucks don't just skate to the box when they've been called for a penalty, always jawing.

I remember as a kid thinking how weird it was for them to be playing hockey into May.
