Red Sox eyeing Millwood, Galarraga

08:11 AM ET 05.19 | The Red Sox rotation may soon be gasping toward desperation. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so the Red Sox are exploring any number of options after placing two starters -- John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka -- on the disabled list in the span of 24 hours. One veteran under consideration, a major league source indicated Wednesday night, is right-hander Kevin Millwood. The Sox were said to be inquiring whether Millwood would be willing to first pitch in Pawtucket, giving the Red Sox a chance to evaluate him further. ... The team might also be keeping an eye on Armando Galarraga, who was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Everybody needs pitching. It's a never ending quest.

taking fliers on crap pitchers worked for the yanks! why not?

May 19, 2011  08:28 AM ET

Bronson Arroyo...

May 19, 2011  08:36 AM ET

A major league source? Who? I don't see the Sox signing someone just for the sake of signing someone. This team always seems to have one or two starters on the disabled list every year.

Can they be any worse than the 2 guys they put on the DL?

Yea, thats a good call. A first place team in the NL Central crown parting ways with their most consistent pitcher so far this year and the only one they can count on every start.

Yea. Arroyo was a good call. Maybe the Sox can pull off a trade for David Price while they're at it. Doesnt look like the Rays need him.

Think a little next time.

wakefield can fill in some, but lackey's a mess (understandably) and it sounds like dice k is done for a while...

May 19, 2011  08:55 AM ET

I'd like to see Carl Crawford in the Red Sox rotation. That way they could have someone DH for him.

You have to be in pretty bad shape if you want Milwood

Relax young man...

... tossed his name as a former Sock.

Now, if you want to break it down thoroughly like someone in management... okay.

But, I seriously question your position in baseball management.

Therefore, my presentation of a former Red Sox pitcher still holds.

Don't act all "holier than thou" when your intelligence gets called into question.

Lets think about your response.....as a former Sock..... By that logic, Boston should also contact Cleveland for Justin Masterson. Its not like Cleveland is in first place or anything. No wait....how about Derek Lowe since Atlanta isn't busy this summer trying to win a post-season spot.

Guys like you make good hookers.

Former Sox pitchers Clemens and Pedro Martinez are available..and I am pretty damn certain they still think they can pitch
