Lacob lands Jerry West for front office

08:07 AM ET 05.20 | Two-time NBA exec of the year, Jerry West, has reportedly agreed to join the Warriors' front office. West's exact title has not yet been formalized, but he is expected to be reporting to co-owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber and possibly act as a sounding board in many areas. The addition of an icon like West is another aggressive and surprising move by Lacob, who brought in agent Bob Myers last month as his GM-apparent. West and Myers have a long relationship via West's close friend Arn Tellem, Myers' mentor in the agenting industry. ... Late-night summary: If Lacob wanted to show he's seriously in this to shake up the Warriors' culture, he has done it. You don't get any more big-time than adding Jerry West to your front office.

Could mean we see GS make a serious play for Dwight. Jerry knows they need a true center, and Dwight would make them an instant contender in the West.

If he does go to L.A. over G.S. he would be making a terrible mistake.
Like I said before GS is a good defensive center away from running the west.
With Curry, Ellis and Wright on the wings, they are perfect compliments to Dwight's game.
What does L.A. have? Nothing. They have no guards worth mentioning. Kobe is a 16 year vet on his last good leg. Dwight and Bynum play the same position, so Bynum would be gone and I guess that leaves Gasol, who also needs the ball in the paint. The Lakers still will be weak on the perimeter D. So nothing would have changed there, and so the strategy for beating them would be the same even with Dwight and Gasol. As long as they have Kobe, Artest and Fisher guarding the wings, teams like Spurs, Mavs, Static and Warriors would eat them alive.
The only thing the Warriors need is some one to stop them from getting pounded on the glass. I think Jerry knows this and will make a play at Dwight if Orlando doesn't keep him.
L.A. is going no where with or without Dwight, he shouldn't waste his time.
