DeRosa ROI: 13 RBIs for $12M

08:23 AM ET 05.20 | Mark DeRosa may have played his final game with the Giants on Wednesday, sealing his tenure as among the least cost-effective players in team history. The team will have received a total of 13 RBIs for their $12 million investment in the veteran infielder. ... But as his teammates were quick to point out, DeRosa's value to the club cannot be measured on the stat sheet alone. His guidance was instrumental to Pablo Sandoval, Jonathan Sanchez and several others during last season's run to the World Series. His teammates hoped for the best, as DeRosa traveled back to San Francisco on Thursday for an examination of his twice-repaired left wrist. It certainly didn't look good when he strained it in bizarre fashion Wednesday, yelping in pain as he simply loaded up his hands as Clayton Kershaw delivered a 1-2 pitch in the fourth inning.

He's provided great guidance to KF Panda? Well, that's one hell of a $13M bench coach you've got there Frisco. Most bench coaches are affectionately called Hey Beaneater and are paid in Taco Bell script

"DeRosa's value to the club cannot be measured on the stat sheet alone."

$12mil for "grit" "leadership" and "fortitude"?

At least DeRosa can point to Rowand and Zito say he's not the worst signing the Giants have made recently.

By this math... wouldn't Jason Bay be equally terrible

Hey I'm a Giants fan but Sabes needs to stay away from the free agent acquisitions He can draft with the best nodoubt but come on, Zito, Rowand, Derosa, Durham. What was the last greatest FA signing by this guy? Ellis Burks?

Good teammate. But has a fragile wrist. Too bad.

So much for his social life...

He did. It's called winning the World Series.

There it is in a nutshell...

It is no secret that DeRosa was probably that final touch that got the Giants baseball heaven without being on the field. Mark is a excellent person - just ask the fans that he has encountered. Mark will be back in baseball in some aspect. One of the truly good guys of baseball.

He was a quality player for Cleveland & Stl? but has been injury prone the last few years.

He's like Chipper Jones, great player but nagging injuries wont leave him alone. Provides more leadership in the clubhouse than with a bat.
