Vikings running back Adrian Peterson cleared another hurdle in his quest to return from a partially torn lateral collateral ligament Monday when he underwent an MRI that showed "excellent healing," according to coach Brad Childress.

how is this even possible? Is the guy Wolverine, from the X-Men? IT either wasn't partially torn, or they are risking an awful lot with a guy who is clearly an unreal talent. The Vikes should really make sure they are making the smart decision here

this is a coach on a short leash, afraid of losing his job, willing to place himself before his player's career. there's 0 reason for the vikes not starting taylor this weekend.

1 Hit in the right place and he's done and probably a lot worst off then before, you don't think these teams know were to hit to remove him from the game.
If that coach plays him, management should fire his Butt.
There probably going to anyway, seeing how he drove that team into the ground. That's pretty bad when Detroit is a better team then Minn. Got to laugh..............
At least Minn Vikings are a LITTLE better then Miami.

Now that Childress can barely see the last Wild card spot in the distance he is going to risk running the biggest upcoming superstar in the NFL since Moss. This makes me uncomfortable.

Don't do it Adrian. A run at the wild-card(which isn't going to happen), isn't worth getting injuried and having to sit out a full year.

My repost from yesterday with added comment:

When the three words: torn, ligament, & knee are all used in describing one player's condition, it scares the heck out of me. Why chance hurting your thoroughbred? Let...no, MAKE him sit out until he's at 100%. The Vikings also pay Taylor to run, so, run him. He's doing an awesome job at it!

Go Vikes!

If A.P. is allowed to play again this year and is reinjured, Brad Childress should be fired on the spot for making such a poor decision [PERIOD] ! ! !

His tear wan't that bad, and now he is healed. People are too scared about this. And if they beat Detroit they flip the tie breakers and have the 2nd wildcard spot (they are currently 11th with the tie breaker). He's not going to get that many carries anyways, maybe 12 13 at most.

November 27, 2007  02:44 PM ET

He partially tore his LCL, which is outside the knee. It wasn't the MCL or the ACL. Those injuries require surgery and rehab time.

Childress sat him out this week out of precaution. If I were him, I'd sit the kid too, but this isn't as black and white an issue as you "fire the s.o.b." people are making it out to be. Don't get me wrong, Childress should definitely be fired. ...just not for this.

November 27, 2007  03:49 PM ET

Let's remember how much the NFC sucks this year. The Vikings will beat Detroit, and after that their schedule is not that bad. I say if the kid says he's ready, then put him in. The Vikings could have beat the Cowboys this year, and that one blowout against the packers was a fluke.

November 27, 2007  06:46 PM ET

Hold him out until at least the second half to see how the game unfolds. The defense has to keep the same intensity on Kitna that it did with Manning, Culpepper and Rivers if they do then Peterson shouldn't be needed. Good thing Al Harris isn't on the field to take a shot the knees again.

November 28, 2007  12:29 AM ET

Management is not stupid. If they were desperate they would have played him last week vs. the Giants but they didn't. He will split carries with Chester Taylor like he did the first half of the season and still get 100+ yards a game against a suspect Detriot Team. If the trainers and coach even see a hint of an investment lost they will pull him they know in Chester Taylor they have a solid back and in Adrian Peterson they have a bright future.
