08:52 AM ET 05.22 | The Angels say they probably won't look to add a power hitter in midseason, which some see as a sign they're going to load up to make a run at Albert Pujols.

Pujols is staying with the Cardinals. Who's the pork chop at the Tribune writing this garbage?

May 22, 2011  09:32 AM ET

Wow. The Chicago Tribune writing a blurb on how other teams are "going to load up to make a run at Albert Pujols." Thanks T&R for providing us this piece of quality journalism. And while you're at it get rid of the ****'em spam.

I think the Angels making a run at Albert is a safe assumption. The Cardinals will try to tie him up contractually right after the season, but the Angels will be a player.

HUGE ANGELSFAN RIGHT HERE!!!
with that in mond one of two things would happen here..
1. the Angels would trade all of their future stars for Pujols, who would continue to decline and be terrible,
or
2. they wouldnt be able to sign him becuase there is an MLB rule that the Angels have to have every old, decrepit washed up outfielder in the bigs on their roster...IE-Abreau, Vernon Smells, Torri Hunter...

If he stays in the.260 range all year, will they still want to sign him?

And now that we can be reasonably certain...but who knows what some dumbass owner will do...that he isnt getting no 300 mil for 10 years, what is the motivation to leave St Louis? If nobody is going to give him that contract, seems like the Cards are back on fairly even footing.

Good Luck, Angels!

Will you be the "idiot club" that gives in to his demands???????

Angels fans love Torii. He'll be fine It's working out well, thank you. How's that Mauer contract looking now? Or being dead last?

Sign, Angels fans.

Oh, and sure, I guess they could take Pujols. That would be a nice pick-up. Maybe a Vernon Wells trade, that seems fair (sarcasm).

May 22, 2011  11:24 AM ET

For the sake of whichever team picks him up, I hope that Pujols "finds" whatever magic has helped him in previous years and its presence continues to elude the pisstesters.

May 22, 2011  11:43 AM ET

The Angels will once again underbid and lose out on yet another free agent.

$18mil for .225/4/22? Eh, I guess if you say so. And congrats on your one game below .500 record. But I guess if you play in the joke AL west with the A's, M's and division leading 23-23 Rangers, I guess that's good enough.

Twins fans don't have much to cheer about this season. They probably could use Hunter!

Yes, the Twins do suck big time this year. But no, at $18mil, the Angles can keep Hunter.

May 22, 2011  12:24 PM ET

Which would of been possible until the stroke of genius to add Vernon Well's albatross of a contract at 20 Mil+ each of the next 3 years.

That is kind of what I'm thinking. The longer he goes with stats in the mere mortal range this year, the more likely it is that he'll stay in St. Louis.

he did well...as in past tense, DID well...still a great influence, and has had a great career, but hes done...and its starting to show.

I still say that the guy at the Tribune that wrote this article is a pork chop. He should be shipped off to Kansas City.

At this point, I doubt it.

If they were loading up to get Pujols, they shouldn't have traded for Vernon Wells, because that kind of **** everything up.
