McLellan calls out Heatley

08:30 AM ET 05.23 | Dany Heatley is making an awful lot of money disappear in the postseason. Heatley is the Sharks' $8 million man. And when San Jose acquired the high-scoring forward before last season, they had hoped he would be the missing ingredient for a Stanley Cup. Right now, Heatley is just plain missing. ... Heatley, who twice has been a 50-goal scorer, was limited to just 26 goals this season. But Sharks coach Todd McLellan repeatedly has praised Heatley for elevating other aspects of his game to compensate for his lack of goal production. There was no happy talk Sunday from McLellan. " Dany Heatley, like a lot of our players, we expect a little bit more from him," McLellan said. "I think he has to find a way to put himself in better position on the ice to score. We'll get that from him in Game 5."

Finish 'em off Nucks!!!

May 23, 2011  08:45 AM ET

Heatly has looked (at times) like he was skating in cement ...
Thornton and Marleau - the usual disappearing acts - have been showing up, just not many others on the Sharks, for the full 60 minutes.

if the Nucks make the finals, this would be the first time since the days of Pavel Bure.

You might want to try to limit the stupid penalties your guys are taking too. 3 consecutive 5 on 3 power plays? The one time they had 6 men on the ice with a man in the penalty box. Whose fault's that?

The Sharks definitely have a problem. They have to try to contain Kesler and the Sedin twins while trying to beat that brick wall Luongo. That is a daunting task for any team.

and they will be happy to not be playing a NY team, as they are 0-2 against them

yep - bonehead mistakes... some on the players, some on the coaches, and some borderline calls (for both teams).
Nucks scored of their PP's, Sharks didn't.

that is awesome

Heatley handles adversity the same way my dog handles being yelled at ~ both tuck their tails and run the other way. Look for Heatley to demand another trade!

Looks like Heatley is the new Sid Crosby.

You might want to add that when you have 5 consecutive power plays the Sharks could have helped themselves by scoring at least once.

Even if it is Mario...(just couldn't resist.) ;)

Good one Canuck, and good for the Ottawa Sun. Ottawa will have long memory when it comes to Heatley the underachieving whiner.

No love lost in the Nation's capital for Danny boy, that's for sure. LOL
Seriously, couldn't there be some way of getting Hossa and Heatly together on the same team? In Montreal for instance, where they would get absolutely hammered by the press every single day?

And much to the mortification of a certain Fannation user...The first time they will most likely be raising the Stanley Cup.
Oh well, at the end of the day...Better to keep it in Canada.

And when to stay off the ice.

May 23, 2011  11:58 AM ET

You know...with photos like the one at the top, Todd may want to consider changing his last name to something that would bear a stronger resemblance to his physical appearance, such as Trembley, Lalonde or Bonaparte. Failing that, just paint him green and call him the Hulk.

QUOTE(#19):

And when to stay off the ice.

...and how to win a scoring championship
...and how to show up for the playoffs.
...and how to win a Stanley Cup
...and how to succeed under pressure rather than act like a 6 year old girl.
...and how to represent his league in admirable fashion when he was asked at 18 to save the league from itself.

I've seen Sid Crosby. I've watched Sid Crosby on TV. You, sir, are no Sid Crosby.
