08:05 AM ET 05.24 | How much would you pay to play for the Timberwolves? Ricky Rubio would prefer to know if there will be a lockout before committing to joining the Timberwolves for next season. The NBA's labor agreement expires June 30. The Timberwolves would prefer to know before the draft whether the 20-year-old point guard, their top pick from 2009, will buy out his contract in Spain. The draft is June 23. "That is the question," Wolves owner Glen Taylor said Monday. "He's asking how that [lockout] might affect him, if we don't play or if we will play. And our answer is, 'We won't know the answer to that question. You're going to have to make your decision before that.'" ... It would cost almost $1 million for Rubio to buy out his FC Barcelona contract. NBA rules prohibit a team from spending more than $500,000 toward a contract buyout. The Wolves are expected to contribute the limit.

I'm sure he can make up for it by starring in some Disney channel show

Is Rubio any good????

Im sure they put incentitives in these contracts that will make up the money lost....like if you stay under a certain weight you will get $250,000. Heck they give millions to the NFL players for staying in shape during the summer.........

There's such called hope for the unknown. Unknown in the sense that we do not know how he will perform here. But Kahn is real dumb. How in the world will you expect a young man rooted in Spain to take a paycut to continue his trade in Minnesotta.. I mean c'mon.

Totally agree... What type of idiot would sign with a team that is saying: "maybe you might have a job to play for us - a losing team without much hope for supplementing your income with endorsements coz we are not a big market - or you might not have a job, we're not really sure but make your mind up now..."

I have a feeling this guy will not live up to the hype...

May 24, 2011  10:26 AM ET

Watched some games he is quite a hound on the defensive end because of his length, not quite sure how that will translate. Pippen had a crazy wing span and knew how to use it against quicker PGs. In short we don't know what to expect but the kid seems to have had some success at the levels that he has played at.

All the hype I have seen for the last 2 years is how much he sucks so I think he'll live up to it just fine.

If he manages to make it here, Rubio will go down in flames. The point guard position is the most difficult position to learn at the NBA level. (ask Russell Westbrook) I think at best we're looking at a poor mans Rudy Fernandez. What's with this Kahn fascination with point guards? And what ever happened to Martell Webster, Sebastian Telfair, and Jonny Flynn? Is there anyone in this front office with a clue as to what the hell they're doing?

Only on the threads....a lot of the media still thinks this guy is the real deal (that's why we keep getting all these T+R **** on him). I think their wasting their time on this guy....from what I have seen he can pass but can't do anything else.

I think you're right...and no their front office has no idea what they are doing.

No, clearly there is not anyone in the front office that has a clue. Just ask Kurt Rambis. The only thing this franchise has done right in the last 22 years was to draft Kevin Garnett. Oh, two things, OJ Mayo for Kevin Love was a bit of a hiest as well.
