08:18 AM ET 05.24 | While the Big East meets, Villanova waits. The Big East's football coaches are in favor of increasing the football membership to 12 schools, but are divided on whether they want to add Villanova, according to a CBSSports.com survey. ... Last month the school appeared ready to announce that they would make the jump to the Big East only to have the Big East pull the invitation because of concerns about the Wildcats' stadium situation. Villanova can't expand its on-campus stadium so the Wildcats are looking into playing off campus at PPL Park, home of the Philadelphia Union's soccer team. The stadium seats 18,500 and Big East sources said it's no secret the league does not want to play in a stadium that small.

Adding Nova is a joke. They need to bring East Carolina into the fold. The Pirates got stiffed on the last few expansion deals. And still maintain a consistant 50K per home game. (2nd most in football for a non BCS school). This is a no-brainer.

If they're adding Villanova they might as well add Appalachian State.

They are going to let a crappy TCU basketball team play. Why not let a crappy Nova football team play? Just sayin'

The stadium is the joke.

Ha ha ha. Villanova is going to play in an 18,000 seat stadium. Jeez, Allen HS is playing in an 18,000 seat stadium.

FJJ, any idea howmany HS stadiums in Texas are bigger than this? I would guess Allen HS isn't the only one.

+1. Although a BB team should be much easier to turn around than a FB team. Two good players = tourney bid in BB.

Several. Ratliff Stadium referenced in Friday Nigh Lights seats 20,000 which is 1/5 of the population of Odessa! I'm sure the one at Cypress Fairbanks does as well.

I say let Nova in, they probably aren't far off the league average even in that crackerbox stadium. The rest of the league needs a good chance for a conference W anyhow.

Yes, there's only a handful over 18,000. Most have a contingency plan for a college or the pro stadiums when they play big games. We had to move several of the regular season games I played back in the day to Texas Stadium because, even with temp bleachers, 20k just couldn't handle demand.

If you let them in, they can get some shared revenues and then expand. They are a team on the move. Much like Troy, if they come in, they need to add a killer OOC schedule so they can get mo' money and expand. Gotta start somewhere if you want to get anywhere.

Villanova is a quality FCS program... Will they struggle making the leap to FBS??? Absolutely, so did UConn when they made the jump, although Nova is a better program then UConn was when they made the jump...

I'm not sure how Nova is allowed to make the jump to FBS though... Under current guidelines, a team must average 15,000 paid (or actual) attendance once every 2 years... Unless they've been adding temporary bleachers to bulk up their stadium's seating capacity (12,500), I'm not sure how that is possible...

Notre Dame stadium holds over 80,000. Irish football would rule that conference for all eternity if they joined. It would be a free ticket to the playoffs year after year.
Ya know fellas...

Ummmmm... The only reason Texas has big H.S football stadiums is because you have nothing else.. Baseball? No Hockey? No.. You do have the Cowgirls, but they haven't won anything since the early 90s..

Remember, when you lower your expectations, you usually fail to meet them.
