Reggie Miller: Knicks are a joke

05:40 AM ET 11.28 | Reggie Miller remembers when a trip to MSG meant getting a John Starks elbow in the ribs and an earful from the crowd. But these days the perception of the Knicks is much different. "Right now, they are a league-wide joke," Miller said. "It's sad because they are an historic and iconic franchise. But people think they are late night comedy jokes."

Has anyone ever noticed he has Dumbo like ears?

The Knicks are a joke, we would all agree.
And they will remain a joke until Isiah Thomas is extracted.

November 28, 2007  09:01 AM ET

Extract Marbury too - They are both abcesses.

November 28, 2007  09:08 AM ET

I'm a Knick fan (sigh) and have of course never been a Reggie Miller fan, but in this case I must agree with him! Sad state of affairs! But the dismissals need to go higher than a coach and player! That virus is pretty deeply embedded!

November 28, 2007  09:10 AM ET

He's right on the money! I doubt anyone would disagree with him on this very accurate assessment of the worst team in the league.

November 28, 2007  09:36 AM ET

Thomas was never successful at anything after Detroit. Just a little success with Detroit...perhaps the sun, moon, and stars were aligned. Thomas also felt that he can be misogonystic and disrepect women. Marbury has always been overrated...and extremely overpaid. They both need special places. THEY DON'T MEET THE NY KNICKS EXPECTATIONS.

The Knicks are a joke.

In other news, the Sun is hot and provides a lot of light.

Reggie is right.
...And Isaiah is tarnishing the reputation of the Knicks.

Certainly not basketball's winningest (Celtics) or the most glamorous(arguably the Lakers), but they have their fair share of Mystic created by the players before. Willis Reed, Clyde Frazer, Earl Monroe, Bernard King, Patrick Ewing cemented the Knicks' place in sports history.

Hopefully, they get rid of Isaiah... It's NEW YORK's team. It's a brand name. It's a culture..It has to get better, and it has to be now.

November 28, 2007  09:50 AM ET

at first I was going to make a comment like was reggie wearing his plaid or leather skirt when he made that comment..

then i read the article and he actually indicated that the knicks have playoff talent, but just need to right the ship.

the scary part is he's going to be anouncing the game on TnT

November 28, 2007  09:50 AM ET

Always hated Miller as an opponent (8 points in 13 seconds!?!?!?!?), but he's a straight-up guy who tells is it like it is.

When the goings-on of the coach and point guard get more headlines than the games, IT'S TIME TO GO.

November 28, 2007  09:53 AM ET

Used to love to watch those battles between the Pacers and the Knicks.
You knew something was going to go down.

From that shove of Greg Anthony then the step behind the 3 point line to just cap a crazy comeback. To the Ewing floating finger roll off the back of the rim. Crazy battles. Those were great times.

He is right. This team is just sort of there.

November 28, 2007  10:05 AM ET

Thank you, Reggie.

Knicks are a joke

November 28, 2007  10:14 AM ET

I dont need Reggie Miller to tell me this and because he agrees with me doesnt make this a story.

November 28, 2007  10:31 AM ET

Spike Lee...where are you???

November 28, 2007  10:34 AM ET

Well talk about stating the obvious...

November 28, 2007  10:45 AM ET

Mr. Miller is bang on. The Dolans have ruined a marquee franchise. The only way the Knicks get their glitter back is to sell and let another owner with class fix all the mistakes of the Dolt-ans.

November 28, 2007  11:08 AM ET

Money talks. The Dolans aren't going anywhere. Isiah and Marbury would be a start. The problem is, who wants Marbury? Think of one team that this clown would make better. Reggie's right, they are a joke, but nobody's laughing. Once Dolan grows a set, it will be interesting to see the changes.

November 28, 2007  11:46 AM ET

Part of the blame is Thomas, part is Dolan, and part was Larry Brown. I think in these conversations about how they got bad we like to blame who i there an forget about who is not. Larry Brown wanted a couple of these players and that is why Thomas got them, but he isn't there anymore and I am sure he is glad
