Kazmir rehab start doesn't last two innings

08:13 AM ET 05.25 | The pitching line was disconcerting enough for Scott Kazmir: six earned runs, two hits, four walks, three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings for Triple A Salt Lake. Kazmir's postgame comments were just as disheartening for a club trying to squeeze some kind of return on the $14.5 million they're investing in the seemingly lost left-hander this season. "It was kind of a flip of a coin if I was going to be able to get it over the plate," Kazmir said of his first rehabilitation start, which came after a monthlong stint in extended spring training. "It really had no direction and no drive straight to the plate." ... Of the 50 pitches Kazmir threw Tuesday, 24 were strikes.

He used to be almost lights out down in Tampa. He may have to go visit Bartolo's doctor now.

I was thinking that as well before I saw your quote. At least Ankiel had other baseball skills to fall back on.

Story of his career, inconsistent control of his pitches. When hes got it going, he's hard to hit. Only Kazmir can beat himself by bad pitches.
Agreed, best move the Rays ever made.

I'd have to disagree...
Kasmir had over 50 wins for the Rays (and some nice years)...
Zambrano had 10 wins as a Met.
But the big thing was Kasmir gave the Mets Fans Hope - in return they got an absolute stiff.
I'd put that trade up there with Dykstra + McDowell for Juan Samuel.
