Pujols 'not the same guy' right now

08:09 AM ET 05.25 | What's eating Albert Pujols -- contract distractions, a hamstring, something else entirely? Odd thing about Pujols' slow start in 2011 is, surrounded by Lance Berkman and Matt Holliday in the lineup, and with Yadier Molina having a career-year offensively, Pujols has more protection than he's ever had. Maybe, suggested a scout, that's factoring into his early funk: Maybe since he knows he doesn't have to carry such a heavy RBI burden, he hasn't been as disciplined at the plate. "He's not the same guy right now," the scout said. "He's pull-happy. He's not interested in going the other way anymore." Consequently, the scout said, opposing pitchers are pitching him away successfully more often than not.

Wonder if he's using the estrogen therapy to come down off the roids or whatever it is they do with it.....

He's too good of a hitter not to turn things around but he could be pressing now.

I think this is all related to Slinky drafting Pujols for his fantasy team. Word is that TLR is begging Slinky to trade him for Alfonso Soriano

Thanks. Thank you, for your contribution. Quite insightful. What, may I ask, is your explanation then?

For one thing, his stance at the plate is way different this year than previous years

Hopefully it's not the contract issue. He has been "off" all season....hopefully someone he trusts can put it before him bluntly if it is a mechanics issue.

Would not worry too much about Al. In 2 months this "funk" will have been forgotten and he will be in his usual spot atop the league.

When you're on a Tony LaRussa team you should always be under the steroid watch.

Pujols will turn back into Pujols eventually. I just hope it happens around the time Lance Berkman turns into the Lance Berkman of last year.

So was Lance Armstrong (under, in my opinion, a much better system).
Thoguh for the record, I think and want Pujols to be clean. I just think LaRussa was (or has) been one of the larger steroid enablers during their era, too many people who got caught or looked awefully suspicious of it came from LaRussa teams.

I am in no way accusing Pujols of using. I've always been a Pujols fan because of his work off the field, but you never know. Many were shocked about A-Rod's usage. Of course, he's a ****, though.
