Leinart getting bad rap

08:02 AM ET 05.26 | It is quite likely you'll remember Dennis Green's "crown 'em" rant well before the stat line of the QB -- Matt Leinart -- that Monday night. Leinart fell by the wayside because of a shoulder injury and QB Kurt Warner's stellar play. Leinart started 11 games while throwing for 2,547 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions during a promising rookie year. He became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw two TD passes in the first quarter of his first two starts. People overlook Leinart's second career start -- a 24-of-42, 232 yard, two-touchdown performance -- against the Chicago Bears, a defensive-led Super Bowl team, on Monday Night Football. Dennis Green's post-game meltdown is remembered instead.

Agreed. Too many teams are needy at QB. I wouldn't be disgusted if the 'Skins picked him up, assuming they don't pass up somebody better to do it. When Grossman and Beck are your only alternatives Leinart doesn't look so bad.

If Leinhart gets a retread it can't be long before someone gives JaMarcus Russell a call. Apparently he can toss a whole box of donuts at the TV when ESPN is on from across the room while on his knees.

He is awful. He couldn't even cut it with the great WR core at Arizona. I know I wouldn't take a chance on him.

Leinart was given plenty of chances, and had great receivers on those Cards teams - he played himself off the team, and into his own draft "bust" status

In that game Green decided to run the ball instead of continuing to throw and E James ended up with a record for lowest yards per rush avg - and to top it off their kicker missed a makable FG to end the game. I remember late in the third quarter Kornheiser said that if the Cards end up losing this game, the owners should close down the stadium and sell pizzas! The next play Leinart got sacked, fumbled and Chicago scored it's first of three def/sp teams TD's to win - hilarious. As a Bears fan, that is one game I won't forget - we never should have won that one.
