08:11 AM ET 05.26 | Larry Bird is taking his time on a coaching hire. The Indiana Pacers will host their first pre-draft workout Thursday at Conseco Fieldhouse, without interim coach Frank Vogel. Purdue's JaJuan Johnson, a Franklin Central graduate, highlights a group that also includes Corey Fisher (Villanova), Justin Harper (Richmond), Darius Morris (Michigan), Josh Selby (Kansas) and Chris Wright (Georgetown). ... Vogel, whom Bird called the front-runner last week, and most of his assistant coaches will not be in attendance Thursday. Bird doesn't want to send the wrong message to other potential candidates about Vogel's status. Vogel didn't attend last week's pre-draft event in Chicago with Bird, either.

What are you waiting for, Bro?

Doesn't matter who they hire as coach. Danny Granger is the only real talent on the team.

Don't sound like the Pacers are committed to Vogel. Adelman should have received the Lakers job, but now it looks like his place maybe with the Pacers.

Just because he is their only All-Start doesnt mean they dont have talent. Theyre still young. Tyler, Collison, Hibbert have potential to be good.

I guess Larry Bird didn't want to hire a guy with false arrogance like Vogel. Vogel was a decent interim coach, but there are better coaches out there...

Indiana will have $22-23 million in cap room. Getting free agents to take a look won't be a problem - especially when the lockout ends. Granger, Collison, and Hibbert is a good foundation. Adding a free agent SG that can stretch the defense would be helpful. Also they could use depth behind Collison at PG.

The right coach will help in this regard. Adelman gets the most out of his players, and no team needs that more than Indiana. Pay him $4-5 mil per year and get it done.
