Werth hiding issue with manager in plain sight?

08:10 AM ET 05.27 | Though his batting average may not suggest as much, Jayson Werth, thanks to his giant contract, is a central figure in the Nationals' aim toward respectability. If Werth has a problem with the way manager Jim Riggleman is running the team, he should say so. But cryptically intimating in postgame quotes that others aren't doing their jobs is unacceptable -- or at least it should be to Nationals management. Werth knows how this works. He has been in the big leagues since 2002. He comes from a baseball family. By slyly indicating the Nationals are a mess internally, Werth essentially applied gasoline to a spreading fire.

Just play the game the best you can and let other people do their jobs, if they can't do it then in the end they'll be fired, it's pretty much how things have always worked.

But... wait... Jayson... You... you lied?
I thought the Nats were on the verge of greatness...
I thought, that in 3 or 4 years, Phillies fans in Washington would be almost as non-existant as Mets fans are in Philly today, because, well... in 4 years, the Nats are going to run the NL East, and the Phillies will be at the bottom...
Isn't that what you said, Jayson? Isn't that why you went to the Nats? I mean, sure they were the only team that would over-pay you quite as much as they did, but THATS not why you signed with them. YOU TOLD ME YOU SIGNED IN WASHINGTON BECAUSE YOU LIKED THE WAY YOU RAN THEIR ORGANIZATION, AND THE PROMISE THAT THE TEAM HAD FOR THE EXTREMELY NEAR FUTURE!

First, it's not even half way through his first season in DC. Second, are you Werth's ex girlfriend?

Good thing he signed such a big contract. Regular folks can't afford gas to throw on the fire.

My point exactly... He's already pissing and moaning.
I have zero issue with the dude taking the pay day that he did... I simply have issues with the turds that come out of his mouth every time he compares DC to Philly, like they even relate the slightest bit.

Dude... Lighten up. He went for the money. Who wouldn't have? These guys have only so many years to make it then they are working stiffs like the rest of us. What did you expect him to say after signing the deal...

I am on board with your comment about turds. The Nats could have had a bright future but, losing Dunn and Morgan in the off season really set them back. They kind of remind me of the early 70s Phillies -- a great pitcher who pitches with several bright spots in the lineup (think Carlton with a rookie Schmidt, Bowa and Maddox). In their case they have Strasburg... err, on second thought, they should don't have much beyond Nix and an aging Werth.

With the size of his contract, he should be able to say and do whatever he wants. What are they going to do, sit him?

You lie with dogs, you wake up with fleas. What did he expect when he signed with them, other than a big pile of cash.
