08:26 AM ET 11.28 | A couple of Lubbock residents say Bob Knight or his hunting buddy hit them with pellets last month. Neither person required medical attention due to the separate incidents, which occurred on consecutive days. A 51-year-old man said he was shot at intentionally after hollering at Knight and pal to stop shooting so close to his property. Knight told the Associated Press' Betsy Blaney that the accusation is "absolute [expletive]." Knight's trigger finger has caused trouble on a hunting trip before. He shot 16 pellets into a friend's back in October 1999. At least they were friends until the fella accused Knight of coercing him into backing his version of the accident, which led to Knight reaching a settlement with the man.

Am I the only one who would like to see Bobby Knight and Dick Cheney go hunting together?

November 28, 2007  08:51 AM ET

As long as George W. is standing between them

November 28, 2007  09:08 AM ET

Pretty funny, oldskool.

For all of the hype about Knight, he has not accomplished J.S. in the past 20 years.

A wldly overrated coach and an all-around slimey human being.

November 28, 2007  09:13 AM ET

agreed, he does have a ton of wins behind him. But would I want him being my son's college coach? no.

Give the guy a break, maybe he mistook the guy he shot as a referee and there were no chairs handy. Will need to find out the whole story before passing judgement.. come on, Let it go Jake, it's Texas.....

November 28, 2007  09:28 AM ET

Are they talking about shotgun pellets? The incident would escalate to assult with a deadly weapon if so. In CA where I live a pellet gun gets you in a LOT of trouble if you shoot someone. Crucial facts are left out of this article.

November 28, 2007  09:34 AM ET

big deal. texans shoot each other all the time.

November 28, 2007  09:38 AM ET

Bobby nailed that big boy, and he'll fill you full of lead too, brothers.

November 28, 2007  09:44 AM ET

Bandit77 is correct. Bobby Knight is a complete has-been. No one would be paying any attention to this guy if he didn't make a public spectacle of himself every few months. Nothing but a worn-out douchenozzle at this point.

November 28, 2007  09:59 AM ET

That's pretty funny: a guy yells at Knight - who of course never yells at anyone himself - and Knight shoots him. Before that, he shoots a "friend" in the back. Bobby must like to party a lot before taking up fire-arms.

November 28, 2007  10:02 AM ET

Atleast he's not hitting players this time...

November 28, 2007  10:13 AM ET

Knight wasnt doing anything wrong here except trying to close the mouth of a yap with buckshot instead of his fist.

November 28, 2007  10:49 AM ET

So it was a shotgun? Is Knight free on bail? Assault with a deadly weapon is serious.

November 28, 2007  11:05 AM ET

Polygraph them all. That will bring out what happened.

November 28, 2007  11:36 AM ET

Polygraphs are for the Maury Povich show. I'm sure there's truth to both stories. If no one's hurt then why bother. Still it is funny to draw conclusions that Knight and Cheney went to the same hunting school.

Bobby Knight may be mean or a "has-been" as some of you claim. But a true testiment to his popularity lies in the fact that when I walk around a public place in Indiana, I see a bunch of Texas Tech hats and other articles of clothing. With all the bad things he did, he obvoiusly left his mark on some fans.

Shooting a shotgun at someone outside of a battlefield is criminal. Saying forget about it because no-one ended up being hurt is dodging the issue.
