08:15 AM ET 05.29 | The Cleveland Cavaliers own the first and fourth overall picks in the June 23 NBA draft. ESPN's Chris Broussard reports that, according to league sources, the Cavs are trying to become even bigger players in the draft, by turning Numbers 1 and 4 into Numbers 1 and 2. The Cavaliers are in discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons about a three-team trade that would give Cleveland the top two picks of next month's NBA draft. The Cavaliers would use the picks to select Duke point guard Kyrie Irving and Arizona forward Derrick Williams, the sources said.

This sounds like a good trade..............................however, we don't know the players involved so right now its NON STORY!

If the Cavs select Irving they will be right back in the lottery next year.

Never waste a first round pick on a Duke player, especially a guard, they will regret it.

Word on ESPN ....

was DET sending RIP 2 years / $25m and the 8th pick to CLEV in a Salary Dump, with CAVS using the LBJ Trade Exemption for RIP .... and RIP being bought out ...

CLEV then sending the 4th pick & the 8th pick from DET ... for MINNY #2 ....

Prolbem with rumor is First DET needs to be Sold ! ...
Second, Minny needs / wants a VET, needs more Draft picks have the #2, and #19 ...
Third, Buyout RIP means to move up from 4th to 2nd pick, would cost CLEV $25m ...

Sounds to me like a Homer Sports Writer Trade ... ;)

The Cavs have expiring contract in Jamison for around 15 mil. The can certainly give that up for the No.2 pick
Also, they will need to part way with Baron Davis if they are to draft Irving.

Anyway, why not just draft Kenneth Faried at No.4?

Sounds too complicated to happen given that a Lockout could be expected.
In any case, The draft doesn't look THAT talented to be throwing away 25M$.

Just take Irving at No.1, and whoever is best available at No.4, and entertain trades.
Biggest goal in the summer should be to move Davis.

May 29, 2011  09:07 AM ET

Minny would NOT want Jamison and his $15m, ...plays pF same as Love, Anthony Randolph, could even use Beasley at the 4 spot .... and combine Salary are less then Jamison ...

It would be throwing away $25M just to move up 2 spots, but, they threw away $30M in the Baron Davis deal just to get a lottery pick. Wouldn't put it past Gilbert to do it.

the Deal breaking from another web site ... Is the rumor of Amnesty of a Player, in the new CBA, had DET backing out ... keep the 8th pick and Amnesty RIP ...

... a lot of teams Utah 3 & 12, Minny 2 & 20, Bobcats 9 & 19, Wash 6 & 18, maybe even Houston 14 & 23, talking of move up or down ...we will find out on June 23rd ....

Well, we finally agree on something. The Cavaliers need too much for a point guard to make a difference--especially a Duke point guard. Since they appear to be in the mood to take chances, I'd rather see them take Enes Kanter. Derrick Williams or Brandon Knight would still be available at #4.

I would do it, it's not my money. I'm not completely sold on Thomas but him and Irving would definitely provide a good nucleus to build around. Go Tribe and make sure to thank a veteran this weekend.

And? Look at how productive DeJuan Blair is. He is only 6'7".

I get that Detroit us not very good but the point if the off-season is to get better. Why on earth would the Oistins trade Hamilton and a lottery pick for a trade exception? Thus deal has ZERO chance of completion as presently constructed.

Oistins
*Pistons

yup, he is so productive that he gets to play 12 mins a game in the playoff

He avg 12 mins because he is too short to guard either Gasol or Z-bo
