Giants are stuck with Manning
Eli Manning may not deserve it, but job security is not an issue through the 2009 season and probably beyond. The Giants are stuck. They have already invested $30.1 million in Manning, plus all the draft picks they traded for him. And even if they were willing to write that off as a costly mistake, there is no place to turn to upgrade the position.

As a Giants fan, I do not look at it as being stuck with Eli Manning, Eli is a good quarterback and has been thrown into one of the most exposed teams in the NFL. Yes he has had a hard time, but he has done pretty good considering all the distraction with Tiki, Injuries of other players, and people thinking he is his brother, let him be himself. I believe he is great for the Giants.

He has flashes of brillance, but still alot of mediocrity. Still looks like a freshman quarterback to me. How long do you wait for this guy to mature? And yes, there probably is not a good alternative considering all of the mediocre QBs around the league.

No he is not better than people think.
Completion % is 58.5- (QBs that are better Ben,Cutler, Rivers, Schaub)
TD/Int ratio is 16/15- clearly not good.
QB rating is 75.
My point is that QBs that have less or similiar starts than him are showing more signs of progress in understanding the game. He is also putting up these kinds of number with a decent cast of players around him. Plax, Toomer, and Shockey are not the best corp of receivers in the league but they are far from the worst.
David Garrad has less starts than Eli and I would feel more comfortable with him behind center. Makes less mistakes plays like he cares and does more with less talent.

Part of me wants to see him do good, but the way he blew off San Diego makes me laugh to see him fail.

Actually, Eli is worse than you think. His 75.1 passing rating places him 24th overall (there are 32 teams in the league, so that puts him right at the bottom quartile). This is consistent with his sub-standard performance since becoming a starter (2005:75.9; 2006: 77), and would suggest little or no development. It places him below the likes of Joey Harrington, Jason Campbell, Brian Griese and JP Losman, but ahead of such luminaries as Kyle Boller, Cleo Lemon and Rex Grossman. His 58.5 completion percentage is 27th and is roughly the statistical equivalent of a .250 batting average. Another meaningful measure of performance is Yards per Attempt; here, Eli is in a 3-way tie for 25th. Couple these stats with observations like his tendency to through off of his back foot once he's been subjected to a little pressure, and a decision-making ability that does not appear to have improved much, if at all, over the course of his 4-year career, and I'd say that Eli is thoroughly mediocre. Parcells once said that you are what your record says you are - well I'm afraid that Eli is what his stats say he is.

Eli is proof that inbreeding exists.

The players on his team have not lost fiath in him, and that is the only vote that matters. He is it for this team, and not a bad choice in my opinion.

Eli is a mystery still. I think the right coach, and the right QB coach could do allot with Eli.
I know Eli is not Payton...but how long was it before Payton Manning was considered to have fully matured?

Like my older brothers 9th grade report card indicated for which he was whacked by my dad some 30 odd years ago, "We feel he is not living up to his potential and if he would concentrate more, we feel his grades would improve substatntially".
Man, did my sister and I have a GOOD night THAT night.....never ever forgot that statement......LOLOL

I thnk Eli turns this around as soon as they get a descent head coach. Im guessing Parcells will be back at the helm of the giants this time next year (which is even greater news in Cowboyland).

As a Giants fan id rather be stuck with him than 90 precent of the other QB's in the league!!! coaching is out problem..inconsistant play on offense (droped balls, bad protection,2 injured running backs)and defense(most secondary)..we need to build a great team around him like the steelers have done around big ben

The Giants made their bed a long ago by putting so much into a QB for name alone -Now they as you say it -must sleep in that bed... Eli still "might" turn into a decent QB because he has his moments now but how many years does he need Giant fans?????

The Giants gave up a lot to get him and Eli was pretty arrogant about refusing to play for SD.
Hard to have sympathy for anyone in this.
Eli was the #1 draft pick and he plays in NY.....he wanted it, now he's got it. Quit throwing stupid picks, win some games and you'll be fine.
