01:48 PM ET 05.30 | FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke has dramatically confirmed that an email he sent suggesting the 2022 World Cup was "bought" was genuine. The email was made public by banned FIFA vice-president Jack Warner as Sepp Blatter faced the media Monday. Valcke, according to Warner's statement, sent an email to him about Mohamed Bin Hammam "buying" the 2022 World Cup for his country. Bin Hammam was then standing against Blatter for president -- but he has also been banned by the ethics committee on bribery charges. However, he has announced his intention to appeal against his suspension.

Makes you wonder if FIFA and the college BCS are run by the same people.

It's a bit disingenuous for the T&R headline to say "Warner says Qatar bought World Cup" when the story clearly has him not doing that, but instead releasing an email of Jerome Valcke stating such.

It's a shame that no one else ran for the election than Sepp Blatter and Mohamed Bin Hammam. Just shows how far corruption goes in FIFA. If in fact the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was purchased then venue should be shifted to the United States. We don't have to build new stadiums and have the infrastructure to hold the influx of fans from around the world. FIFA could also make more money. Selling out 110,000 thousand seats in Ann Arbor, Pasadena, and Dallas

Warner would never admit that he was bribed (or that he's been corrupt for going on two decades). Nor would he ever admit that CONCACAF is skewed and that the Caribbean nations have a disproportionate amount of power. But all of that is true, too.

On other hand, the skidmarks Valcke left backtracking are funny.
