09:27 AM ET 11.29 | Sean Avery, one of the most energetic Rangers and their chief agitator, will have arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist Thursday and will be out indefinitely, the team announced Wednesday. "I guess it's better than getting hurt in April," Avery said. "That's the only way I can look at it." The injury is the second interruption to Avery's season.

So What? Avery is fourth line player but on the Rag$ he is a 2nd line player. Maybe this is a good thing cause the Rag$ will actually have to use one of their young players with skill on the second line instead of a scrub who agitates.

Say what you want about the guy, he is the best at what he does...hands down. And he can put up points too. 29 points in 44 games with the Rangers is pretty good. If I was a coach, I would take him any day...

Yeah! There is a god!!! and despite what Avery thinks it is not him!!!!

Perhaps he should get his jaw wired as well!

God bless Avery!

November 29, 2007  01:41 PM ET

Good riddance. The longer he's out, the more players on other teams that won't get blindsided by that rat ****.

November 29, 2007  02:39 PM ET

Yes, I now know GOD exists. Now the Rangers can be a hockey team.

November 29, 2007  03:19 PM ET

Wow, I wonder why so many people despise Sean Avery...personally I like his heart man...he plays with more heart than say Kovalev (who plays for my team) or Jagr, or thelist can go on...

Now I am really going to open a can of worms...

Wasn't it Avery who called out French-Canadian and European players for taking runs at guys and then finally agreeing to fight all the while hiding behind thier visor. If it was him, he makes a good point. Now I am not going to label ethnicities, I am just going to say that any guy who drops his gloves and leaves his helmet and visor on is PUSS "E". Iginla always drops his lid when he fights...

The only thing good that Avery has been a part of is Elisha Cuthbert

I am relieved to see another Avery supporter among us, JustinHale420 (420 eh?). I am not a major fan, or anything, but I like alot of what he does, and he provides results. Make fun of the Rangers for having him on the 2nd line all you want, but take a look at their record the last 2 years with him in their line-up and with him out of it. It isn't coincidence...

November 29, 2007  04:49 PM ET

JustinHale420, I'll take his heart ..... preferably in a bag! I don't usually wish ill on any player or gloat when one gets hurt, they've got a tough job to do, but Avery is in a category by himself! Usually other players don't like certain players too much but still respect them for what they do. Avery's got zero respect among his peers. That's quite unusual and for good reason. (DC)

His passion may at times be misunderstood and misdirected. Has he done some questionable things during his career...absolutely. Has he said some questionable things...absolutely. Has he taken some runs, sure. But all of his actions serve one purpose and one purpose only, to light a fire under his team. Again say what you like, he is the best agitator in the game hands down and beleive me when I say every GM would want him on their team, even if he didn't put up points. Remeber Barnaby. That guy was one of the best at what he did, he just didn't put up the points Avery does. I can guarantee many fans would be happy to have him on their team, me being one of them. He is the steroe-typical love hate guy...

Addition by subtraction. Go blueshirts.

November 29, 2007  05:28 PM ET

he is good at what he does, gets other guys of there game and brings tons of energy to his team and yes he did put some points up, for his team, from a player of his role, they got more then they exected.
this is bad news for the RANGERS.....

I LOVE HIS TRASH TALKING

November 29, 2007  09:26 PM ET

JustinHale420 C'mon whats with bashin our leading scorer, Kovalev 24 gms, 21 pts. I lost all respect for this punk when he dissed Shanny. A future Hall of Famer offers you advice, any smart hockey player would jump at the chance. I think the Rangers brass should get used to him being on the IR seeing that everyone in the league is gonna be runnin him. He's too small to take that kind of heat. I hate to say it but he brought it all on himself. I do love his intensity on the ice but he goes over on occasion. Uncontrolled intensity is stupidity.

what avery does for the rangers is unparalleled throughout the league. he brings excitement to the garden and his team anywhere they go. If any of you had him on your team you would love him. also, if any of you play hockey you know trash talking is a large part of the game. Just because he is very good at it doesnt make him a "punk".
