A rookie shall lead: Ponder calls workouts

08:04 AM ET 06.01 | While some workouts have featured upwards of 30 players or more, Vikings players weren't doing much of anything together until Christian Ponder came along. "You see all these other teams doing workouts, and we were one of the few teams that wasn't doing anything. Somebody had to get the ball rolling," Ponder said. "I thought as a quarterback, it was up to me to do it." ... Among the most valuable parts of this week's workouts is the chance Ponder has to share a rare resource -- the Vikings' revised playbook. He got his copy from new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave during the brief window when the lockout was lifted last month, and will make copies for all his teammates attending workouts at IMG.

This says so much about the Vikings state of affairs. It's quite sad that the one who has to get the team to come together is your drafted but as yet unsigned rookie qb. I applaud him for it but also send much sympathy if this is representative of the work ethic in Minny.

They can still try to get a head start on everyone else. Then when the lockout ends and games are played, they can stink in mid-season form.
