Lockout's tipping point may come Friday

08:05 AM ET 06.02 | St. Louis and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals will host what could be a most important legal milestone in the lockout. Through a lawyer, each side will have 30 minutes to present its argument during a hearing Friday morning downtown at the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse. If, as expected, the 8th Circuit decides to keep the lockout in place, the players may be more motivated to resume earnest negotiations. ... Of course, if the 8th Circuit rules in favor of the players, the lockout will be lifted, official league business will resume, and that will likely lead to the official return of NFL football, on schedule, for 2011. This is all about leverage. Either way, the court's decision should be a tipping point.

More likely the battles will just be prolonged. Even if the circuit court lifts the lockout, the owners will appeal. More of the same.

30 minutes each? Should take about 5 seconds each.
Owners- "We want more money than they are willing to give up."
Players- "We want more money than they are willing to give up."
Court- "Thanks for coming. We'll get back to you in three months."

Hand grenades at 2 paces. Mutual Assured Destruction. That's what we need here.

Nice. Best to have it down to just those two. If you tried to utilize both sides, the owners wouldn't be there because they'd hire mercenaries. The players? That would be a mixed bag. You arm the Raiders and they'd miss the show since they'd be looting and pillaging downtown Oakland. The Bills? Their squad would stand in a circle and shoot towards the center. It just goes downhill from there.

I was thinking of Al as a younger man, like he was back in the 13th century.

It would probably be easier and quicker to find the storage locker with all the XFL equipment in it and get that fired back up.
