08:24 AM ET 06.03 | The Wild are reportedly nearing a coaching hire, which would then be followed by Chuck Fletcher's shaping -- perhaps overhauling -- the roster. Between his search for a new coach, scouting and watching the Houston Aeros' run for a potential Calder Cup championship, Fletcher has spent "maybe" one weekend day in the Twin Cities since April 10. But June could prove busier for the Wild general manager. With the NHL draft on June 24-25 in St. Paul, trade talks are commencing and Fletcher says he's willing to trade anybody -- except captain Mikko Koivu. Qualifying offers must soon be tendered, buyouts are possible and free agency is looming July 1.

The daily Wild thread. As useless as ever.

If I were Fletcher I wouldn't trade Brent Burns.

June 3, 2011  09:03 AM ET

sounds about right. Koivu, Burns about the only truly useful pieces there.

The Aeros are in the Calder Cup finals so they obviously have some decent players. Maybe its time to bring some of that talent up to the big leagues.

For some obscure reason when they do that, they become less talented and obscure.

How does Fletcher even have a job at this point. The Wild's drafting has been awful and their trades (Cam Barker for Nick Leddy ~ their only decent first round pick in years) have been equally as bad! They need to wake up before their fans start staying away!

Soooo....Brent Burns? It's like a garage sale that has old TV Guides, marbles, vacation t-shirts and a working tv (Burns).

Do ya think they have one of those 'ladder antenas' that you could climb on your roof with?

I'm a huge hockey fan, I live in Wisconsin. I follow five (now six with Winnipeg back) NHL teams. I'd LOVE to love the Wild but just can't get excited over them. They're so forgetable. It all started with "The Wild"...dumb name, dumb uniforms, and just a forgetable team. I'd rather watch Wisconsin Badger Hockey thank you.

great colour sheme, forgettable jerseys, boring socks.

I watched an interview last night with a quebec born guy that was playing over in France because things weren't working out in North America and he was tired of bouncing around & tired of the bus...what really struck me was how truly AWFUL some of those jerseys are. The team he played for was turquoise, purple & black with multi-coloured advertisements splashed all over! Even their TAPE has sponsors on it.

Burkie, go get Burns!

June 3, 2011  02:25 PM ET

Brent Burns has an obsession with animals. He has like a million dogs, snakes, turtles, fish, cats, and ever thing. It would cost him a small fortune to move.

What are their goalies like? ;)
