09:23 AM ET 06.04 | Ruben Tejada will never be Jose Reyes. He doesn't have the speed to be as dynamic at the plate, but with Reyes' future as a Met very much up in the air these days as he heads toward free agency, Tejada is about as good a Plan B as you could want.

and???

I love the kid's plate discipline, and he's young with an above average glove. But Reyes in a superstar, and there is no way they can let him put any uni on but that of the Mets.

Shutup, put Tejada at second, Turner at third... Deal Krod and Wright, keep Reyes... force Bay into retirement. And then draft well.

...OR SELL THE DAM TEAM WILPONS!

Once again, there is no plan b. Let's sign Reyes and be done with it if tajeda can compete for second base which i think turner and murphy are showing they are more then adequate. Then someone should be traded. Because we also have reese havens in double a. It would be nice to see a infield that would include Davis, havens, reyes, wright keeping turner and murphy. Getting rid of harris and harrison. Also get a catcher in any trade because we need one thole looks outmatched.

If someone were to come in with a large bank account (Einhorn), would trading any of them still make sense? Reyes and Wright are as good a Short-3rd combo as they come, and with some of the young talent they have (Turner, Davis, Thole, Pagan, Fernando), the team isnt as sh*tty as the media makes them seem.

Their bullpen keeps imploding, that's the issue. Their starting pitching and starting lineup are just fine. Not great, mind you, but more than competitive.

This has been known since before the 2010 season started. Thanks for breaking it in June 2011 Daily News.

This story has to be really exciting to Met's fans. You know that guy we can't win with? Well, we're gonna replace him with someone not as good. My name is Fred Wilpon and I love you Met's fans that pay stupid money for tickets and hot dogs, and wash it down with an $11 beer and an $8.50 coke. But I don't worry because Bud Selig likes me, meaning that "for the good of the game" will never happen here like it did in LA.

What, exactly, have the Mets won with Reyes and Wright?

Sell them off, along with Bay (if anyone will be dumb enough to take him), K Rod, Beltran and some of the retread starting pitchers...and start over.

It's called the Marlins way..and it has worked for them. (Look at the Indians this year)

June 5, 2011  07:42 AM ET

If the Mets keep Reyes he will be hurt every year, if they trade him he will play every inning of every game and lead his new team to a championship, that's the way it goes for the Mets.

The Mets will not be relevant until :

1) They obtain stable ownership
2) A GM who knows how to evaluate talent
3) A long-term plan and sticking to it

We can all witness how well those free agent signings have panned out the past few years...

Is it just me, or is watching the Mets fail miserably, most enjoyable :]

Mets have some young talent & as soon as Wilpon sells the team, they can make payroll again. Keep Wright & Reyes.
Beltran, Bay & KRod arent worth the money anymore. Chuck Santana as well. As good as he is, $20M+ per season is too much for someone injury prone. Use the money to rebuild the bullpen.
