10:13 AM ET 06.04 | Councillor Josh Colle wants Toronto to make a power play for another hockey team. While Winnipeg celebrates the return of the National Hockey League to its city, Colle will ask Thursday for Toronto's economic development committee to get Hogtown in the game to score the next team the league decides to relocate to Canada.

That's what I was thinking then I remembered that they do have a professional hockey team, the Marlies.

Ohhhh that's right...there IS an nhl team in T*****o already.

Maybe Hamilton or Waterloo, not another Toronto team. Leafs fans will never convert.

I can see an even dozen teams in Canarduckia, no problemo. Just a wee touch of outside-the-box required - still easier than getting people from under the MD Line interested.

I don't think that the teacher's union would allow another hockey team in Toronto. What would you call them? Real Toronto? The Fig Leaf's?

Quebecs only chance is if they put another team in Atlanta. They end up in Canada and it QC's turn.

I don't know about a dozen. Nine tops. It will be at least 5 years before Quebec City even gets an arena. Until then, "That's it, back to Winnipeg!"

June 4, 2011  11:25 AM ET

Most likely Seattle will have a team before QC.

June 4, 2011  11:31 AM ET

It's hillarious how Winnipeg will be in the southeast division next year. Nobody down there has even heard of Winnipeg.

A name the team contest could get pretty ugly....

Kansas City would be a good place for a NHL team.

June 4, 2011  12:03 PM ET

Finally, a NHL-caliber team in Toronto! Hasn't been one there since '67.

June 4, 2011  12:49 PM ET

Another one?? I didnt know TO had a team..

June 4, 2011  01:32 PM ET

I think there is a scene in a movie from the CN tower. I've been up there, small planes flying by below us.

Well, they have to start somewhere. And where would they put that team? In the same division as the Leafs? I can see the standings at the end of that first year:

Montreal
Buffalo
Boston
Ottawa
