Zambrano's last act for Cubs?

08:12 AM ET 06.06 | Carlos Zambrano boiled over again Sunday, this time at Carlos Marmol and his teammates -- "We stink. That's all I've got to say." -- with words that may find him in even hotter water. By 9:30 Sunday evening, Jim Hendry had yet to speak with manager Mike Quade about the incident, which he planned to address first thing Monday morning. But judging from the tone of Hendry's voice and the way he has handled similar outbursts by Zambrano and Milton Bradley, I would be surprised if this deed went unpunished. Nothing from Hendry's track record with discipline suggests it will. ... When Bradley ripped fans and the team environment at the end of the 2009 season, it was his last act as a Cub. Will it be Zambrano's? Hendry refused to speculate on the options.

The Cub's have lost 8 of their last 10 and are 11 games under 500. They do stink, though you don't like a player saying it but that's what frustration will do.

As a 42 year old, lifelong cubs fan, THEY STINK. So if Zambrano speaking the truth leads to punishment, let it happen. Maybe this will be the Dugout Fight, Lou Pinella Tirade moment they need to be a respectable team this year.

AND don't anyone think they'd be any better had Sandberg been managing.

Quade must be ready to pull his hair out.....ooooops.

" The Truth? You couldn't handle the truth."

Big Z isn't wrong, he just is expressing it in the wrong manner, as is his custom.

I'm sure a lot of it is just frustration. He pitched a great game yesterday, as did Carpenter, and then he had to watch his W disappear. You still don't throw your teammates under the bus, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees pickup Zambrano's tab in the near future.

it's hard to side w/ zambrano b/c of his track record in recent past but don't blame zambrano for saying exactly what needs to be said. maybe he didn't need to go to the media but i'm certain this team has already had a dozen team meetings to un.**** themselves and it isn't working. he isn't blowing hot air or picking a fight just b/c....he's telling it how it is and maybe that's what needs to happen.

this club is underachieving at a rate rarely seen.

Chicago, come give Jason Bay a looksie... a new start for everyone wouldn't hurt.

Wishful thinking.

It seems like he'd want to stay in the NL. He likes to hit and does so pretty well for a pitcher.

Any team that uses Posada as a DH could use Zambrano as a hitter. I will give you Hughes, Nova and Brett Gardener for him right now.

I think he's just trying to motivate the team. They've been losing and I don't expect any player to be too happy until the wins start coming. But comments like those from Big Z need to stay in the locker room. "Thou shalt not give the media dookie".

You have to have talent to underachieve. This club is doing exactly what a club with too many Triple-A players should do in the majors.
