Hershiser joins team looking to purchase Dodgers

08:16 AM ET 06.06 | Orel Hershiser, who lives in Las Vegas, may be willing to place his bets on the Dodgers. Steve Garvey has worked to assemble a team of people with the wish of purchasing the Dodgers if the team goes on sale, and Garvey added Hershiser to his team, which is now called the Garvey-Hershiser Group. Major League Baseball already has seized the Dodgers and is running the day-to-day business operations of the club. The team could go on sale if team owner Frank McCourt is unable to make the next payroll, but he's made the past two payrolls under a cloud of uncertainty. Hershiser, the popular former Dodger and 1988 World Series MVP, would give Garvey's group instant name recognition and baseball experience from on and off the field and inside the television booth.

This is what happens when MLB tries to take care of their mistakes. They screwed McCourt out of the Red Sox - thank God - and then tried to make good my handing him the Dodgers. He traded parking lots on the Boston waterfront to pay off News Corp. Do you think Mark Cuban would have these kind of issues? Cuban may be nuts, but he wouldn't miss payroll and run the team into the ground.

The former Mrs. Garvey just might disagree with you on Steve Garvey's clean image. She wold think yes, the image may be clean, but the the actions weren't. Oh, well, what's a smelly divorce or two, what's the poorly timed naming of an elemantary school? Who ever thought sports were clean?
