Faried works his way on Blazers radar

08:10 AM ET 06.07 | Portland brought in six players for workouts Monday, and a few caught the attention of the team's brass. There was a lot of chatter about two players in particular -- Morehead State's Kenneth Faried and Washington's Isaiah Thomas. Several mock drafts have projected the Blazers taking Faried with their No. 21 pick, and coach Nate McMillan said he liked what he saw out of the 6-foot-8 forward both today and at a workout in Chicago. McMillan compared Faried to a player he coached in Seattle, Reggie Evans, in the way Faried competes. "Everything he does is hard -- the guy ties his shoe hard," McMillan said. "He's certainly a guy who's on our radar screen, and when I watched him up in Chicago, all of the drills, everything he did out on the floor was hard."

Their strongest (least injured) position is forward....Why pick up another forward?

Man this is just a ploy to get some other player they're hoping to slip. I don't think any coach or GM will go on the book to discuss their draft plans. It's always top secret. Perhaps my biggest shock in this article is knowing there's a prospect named Isaiah Thomas... you know that kid is doomed already.. I mean who will name their son Judas?

Was just thinking the same thing...best player available? As for Isaiah Thomas...I think your Knicks should take him - it's the only way to stop the Thomas to the Knicks rumors...lol

i think this guy ends up as a legit rotation worthy big at the minimum, with a shot at being a starting caliber pf. that's pretty good value for a pick in the 20's

i like this guy, too... his size is an issue, but he's got long arms. it will be interesting to see how he pans out.

Lol...you know that is actually isiahs son, right

It all makes sense... cos no other human in this world will name their child Isaiah Thomas... we all know that's a bad brand.

If fareid is the guy I'm thinking of, he would be nice, IF we didn't have melo and amare.....unfortunately, we need size, actual height

We need to pass on Fareid. Yes he may be good but we need to get some production out of Balkman which should negate the need for another undersized rebounder. I wish him well in Sacramento though...

I would like to see the Blazers pick up Donnie Walsh. He's an excellent GM, Knicks just wanted to bring back Isiah.
