08:17 AM ET 06.08 | The Tigers' offense may soon get a shot in the arm. The common thread from day to day has been that the Tigers still aren't sure when Magglio Ordonez is coming back. He seems to be sure, however -- and it appears to be Thursday. Before a game in Toledo on Tuesday night, Ordonez told MLB.com that his right ankle has gotten stronger and is feeling fine, and that he hopes to be back in the Tigers' lineup when they return from Texas and begin a four-game series against the Mariners. Hitting .286 after five games -- he went 1 for 4 on Tuesday -- Ordonez is pleased with the way he's driving the ball at the Triple A level, but wants to be sure he can play nine innings on the ankle that he broke last year and which gave him trouble earlier this season.

I've always liked Leyland. He isn't afraid to say what's on his mind.

Is that the curve Leyland is throwing?

I'm not optimistic that Ordonez will even be 2/3 of what he was last year. We've been hearing how his ankle is OK since last winter, and it's not. I would like to know how much money changed hands between the Ordonez camp and the Dr. that told the Tigers that his ankle was fine and ready to go.

Leyland was pitching BP to Verlander the other day lol.

I thought his contract was up last season? Did the Tigers resign him? Forgot.

Former Tiger Jim Northrup dies at 71; star of 1968 Series champs. RIP Jim, I remember the season of '68 with his big WS hit, Lolich hitting a homer, two WS wins, McLain with his 31 wins.
