Pau to be reborn with Brown (or traded)?

08:08 AM ET 06.09 | Pau Gasol became a lightning rod in the postseason, and many fans would support moving his nearly $60 million over three years. Should the Lakers try to acquire a big-name player in a trade, Gasol may be one of the assets they would have to give up. ... But things in context: Since the Lakers acquired Gasol from Memphis in February 2008, they have won two NBA titles and appeared in three consecutive NBA finals. Besides, it seems as though new coach Mike Brown's vision is to use Gasol and Andrew Bynum deep in the post, much as the San Antonio Spurs did with David Robinson and Tim Duncan when Brown was an assistant coach with that team from 2000 to 2003. During that time, the Spurs thrived with Robinson and Duncan through the pick-and-roll and paint touches.

QUOTE(#1):

Pau is not the only problem.

Kobe is the real problem. He has to take a back seat and let the big men dominate. The number of shots he takes in a game has to drop to drastic levels in order for the Lakers to have a chance in the West.

This is not to take away what he's accomplished but at his age and wear and tear he can no longer dominate the league. His soul is willing but his body is weak. To me you can't call yourself a superman if you can't will your team to win one playoff game. They got swept by Dallas on Kobe's watch. The guy is done. I hope he doesn't give Brown and the Lakers organization a lot of headache.

he's not on a trading bait, id say bynum since he's young and got potential... lakers need to acquire new PG and SF better yet

Trade him for his brother!

I think if I was a GM it would be a hard sell for LA to tell me to take Gasol at his money and trying to convince me he is a #1....

LA needs to do something to improve at PG and SF, I like pau but he didn't help his chances during the playoffs... I think they will add a FA pg and keep Pau and Bynum, but if they are not doing well he is gone...

They took one Gasol for another before. Why not do it again?

Bc they already got rid of the weak one once?

They need to play more inside out with those guys....Let those guys play big in the post and then it will open lanes for Kobe and those guys...But if they are going to keep relying on Kobe has his body wears down more and more then they will be in for another season like this past one...IMO

I agree, Both bynum and Pau need more touches, Kobe cannot do it alone, Pau and bynum could be a great High/Low combo with kobe getting the outside shot if team teams cannot come out an double him... Mike brown could be a good coach to do this... <crosses fingers>
