08:28 AM ET 06.10 | From the sounds of things, the culture at Miami is changing with some help from its alums. Ryan Hill, who cares deeply, is willing to do that. After playing in the Sun Bowl (his final game at UM), Hill raised eyebrows by saying, "We have a lot of guys .. that act like little boys." The cornerback, who went undrafted, elaborated recently. "In my early years at UM, there were guys who were freshmen who acted like adults -- Jon Beason, Teraz McCray, Greg Olsen," Hill said. "When I was a senior last year, some sophomores and juniors acted like freshmen." ... "Guys would come late to meetings. They would schedule appointments and not show up or listen to iPods in class. ... Some kids got worse after they got here. People were purposely doing stuff to mock Randy Shannon or do their own thing."

IMO this is true and could be echoed by a player anywhere. All you have to do is change the "a lot" to "a few", "some", "many", etc.

Recruiting players with better character and values would help too. Players making fun of a drunk like Holgorsen I can understand. Making fun of Shannon, who tried to teach these kids respect and responsibility ... is a reflection of the lack of character of some of the players.

+1.....never was 100% sure of Shannon's ability to coach (and I think he hitched his wagon to the wrong star in Harris), but the guy seemed to be an upstanding, high-intergrity man.

Good point WPS. Nowadays you need to be "an upstanding, high-integrity man" AND be a hard a.s.s that can coach.
