Canucks fans resigned to losing

08:32 AM ET 06.10 | The home fans of Canada's team for much of this playoff season are understandably concerned. [After] two lopsided losses against the Bruins, the Canucks' often fickle followers are beginning to contemplate the possibility that this may not be the year the team slays all those playoff ghosts of the past after all. That 40 years of postseason futility becomes 41. "Honestly," popular Vancouver sportscaster Don Taylor said Thursday. "I sense less a feeling of panic in the city and more a feeling of people being resigned to the team losing. It's like, 'Okay, now the real Canucks have shown up. This is what we've had for 40 years. It took them a while to appear but here they are.'"

Not exactly a killer instinct?

June 10, 2011  09:02 AM ET

Maybe if the fans were talking about what they could do to help there team get going and not giving up when the team gets spanked they could take game 5 and have the upper hand. They should remember they are playing a very good bruins squad that will not lay down and die, so get out to the game, cheer your arses off and hope that the home ice advantage allows you to have a stanley cup parade.... and fire don taylor

Hopefully the VC feel the same way

Milbury compared Canucks fans to pre 2004 Red Sox fans. Sounds like it.

Good lord, they are just teeing them up for Hank, aren't they? Geez, at least make Hank give a little effort to make fun of Booby Lou and the Chets.

If Alain is stupid enough to start Luongo he should be fired!
It worked out very well for Tampa when they sat Rolly.
It's bad enough your two "star" (cough) forwards have once again taken a powder, but no way can you risk your "star" ex-captain, (LOL) in the nets.
Send a wake up call now or as they say in the Italian movies...
"Forgit about it"
Got a laugh out of the latest "Hat Trick" ala Gordie Howe they are giving to Tim Thomas today...
A Shutout
A Bodycheck
and a fight.
Good one!

Don't the fans know that Boston has a recent history of futility as well? One of these teams is going to end a 40-year drought. Guess they're not hockey fans, they aren't aware of the surroundings in the sport.

If Boston wins tonight this series is O V E R. The fickle fans of Vancouver best bet to cheer tonight might be when Luongo gets yanked.

June 10, 2011  09:27 AM ET

on a totally different topic. if savard was healthy is there a team in the league that is as strong down the middle as the b's, imagine having savard, begeron, krejci... then having a fourth like kelly, peverly or even seguin. they were my pick out of the east without savard, with savard it would be a 5 game cup final.

June 10, 2011  09:30 AM ET

would have been a 5 game

Are you trying to say something about the Bruins American goalie here ND?

June 10, 2011  09:37 AM ET

I dont know baun i think you gotta play him, hes one of the big reasons they are where they are, game 4 would have been the time to sit him in my opinion, tossing schiedder in net in a pivatol gme 5 of the stanley cup finals might be a bit to much for the lad, now game 4 would have been perfect, even if you lose game 4 you walk away with a 3 game series ahead of you with 2 home games... if you lose game 5 you might as well start engraving chara on the cup... thats seems alot to put on the shoulders of a guy who has been doing alot of pine riding.... schienders a good goaler but no one knows if he has the head to handle that kind of pressure...

I fully expect the refs to play their part tonight. Not because of a Canspiracy but because of the end of the last game. I don't expect the calls to be anywhere near as loose as they've been the last 2 games.

Even with their PK as effective as its been lately, a special teams game favours the Canucks, more times than not.
