And they underestimated the effort needed to turn around the team.

In the same interview, he also said Tom Ricketts was a good owner. Nothing of substance here.

What's a hundred years, give or take?

Not necessarily. They knew they'd have to wait for the old, awful contracts (Soriano, Zambrano, Ramirez and Dempster) to expire before they had the leeway to acquire younger talent. They have infused the current roster with young players like Barney and Castro.

QUOTE(#5):

The Cubs have it made playing right where they are, and they know it. They won't be leaving anytime soon, and for good reason. The place looks great from the fans perspective inside and out of the ballpark, for those who are still going to their games. I'd say the team is in worse shape right now than the stadium.

Tom Ricketts will threaten to move the team to get funding. He'll follow the model Reinsdorf used before New Comiskey was built.

It's a tough sell. If he threatens for the suburbs, his bluff would be called.

True. Reinsdorf threatened to go to Florida.

According to Lee Elia, that's would exclude the 85 percent of rest of the world that's at work.

Getting the piss smell out of the stadium alone will cost $100M. My bet is they'll have to tear it down and rebuild

They would attempt a total face lift before tearing that place down.

The story must be true b/c the Cubs are playing like crap. Where oh where is Lou?

Ozzie burned the Cubs with that false rumor, but it still sticks.

He never said it smells like piss. He just said the rats were huge.

he's happy not to be managing them anymore

The irony here is clearly this was posted to create "outrage" that a baseball landmark was called a dump when in reality everyone agrees and no one cares.

Insert Fenway, a rose by any other name.

Part of Reinsdorf's act was to threaten to go to the burbs, think they were even talking about near where Sears moved at one point (I lived in that area then).
Don't listen to the ChiSox fans whining about Wrigley, just look at where they have to go (Jerry's bargain basement government funded dump with the upper deck that is not fit for human habitation). Wrigley is a gem and the owners will do whatever they have to to stay there.

BTW, Gammons is older than Wrigley, smells worse than Casey Anthony's trunk, and is so senile that he swore he was out drinking with Babe Ruth last night.

Comiskey is hardly a dump. I believe you are referring to White Sox fans in general, because you certainly can't point to anything negative I've said about Wrigley. Furthermore, judging from your anger-filled post, it sounds like you hold a grudge of some sort.
