There is no empirical evidence to back that statement up. Because it does not exist.

What this story tells me is that opposing pitchers are not hitting Jeter nearly enough.

This stuff runs in cycles. For years when the Sox had Pedro the Yankees were getting hit often when he picthed, then it was the Sox who were getting plunked. Most times when a player gets hit it's because a pitch gets away but these writers need something to write about.

The Red Sox protect ARod, remember when Tek covered his face with a mitt to keep Gabe Kapler from breaking his nose? Funny how people didn't realize that at the time, they all thought Tek was just tired of ARod asking to borrow a Midol.
