08:03 AM ET 06.13 | Seneca Wallace isn't one for the writing on the wall. Wallace said he's fine if the Browns tell him point-blank that McCoy has the edge in camp. "Colt is a younger kid and he's from Texas and people know him," Wallace said. "He should get the opportunity to be the starter and I'm not worried about that. But I'm comfortable with this system and I'm going to prepare every day like I'm the starter. That's what I've got to do." Wallace, who signed a three-year deal worth $9 million plus incentives, isn't conceding anything. He has spent seven seasons in this West Coast offense under then-Seahawks coach and current Browns president Mike Holmgren and knows it inside and out.

Doesn't such a controversy require, at the very least, adequate quarterbacks to CAUSE a controversy?

The only way Wallace starts a controversy is if he starts acting like the congressman from New York.

In all fairness, he might be the best backup QB in football. He might not have the pedigree being an Iowa State grad, but he's accurate and mobile enough to play with a poor offensive line.

I like Wallace as as a backup and as long as he's somewhere other than Seattle.
He's mobile enough to stay out of harms way and just good enough to remind you that you'll find nobody better for a backup QB. But unless he's improved dramatically over the past couple of years, he's still nothing more than an adequate QB. Nothing to write home about.
He has an incentive loaded contract with the Browns, like the one Holmgren signed him to when they were in Seattle. He DID play well enough to trigger several of those incentives though. Including a bonus and a raise before following Holmgren to Cleveland.
I'm just not convinced he's starting material.
