Why Twins might move Cuddyer

08:13 AM ET 06.13 | If the Twins slip much from their current hot streak, there's a chance the team could become sellers. Amid a lineup of career journeymen and minor leaguers, Michael Cuddyer has quietly heated up and is a name that could draw interest should the Twins ultimately fail to sneak back into contention. The Twins' swiss army knife entered play Sunday hitting .303/.363/.462 since May 1, and that was before he belted his ninth homer of the year Sunday afternoon -- a three-run shot that raised his overall slash line to .273/.339/.432. On top of his solid offensive production, Cuddyer has appeared all over the diamond, seeing time at third base, second base, first base, and in right field.

Would like to see him stay, been a cornerstone for a long time...but not at 10.5 mil.......I would sign him right now for another 3 years @ $24. solid glove good clubhouse guy....but if you get inclinations you can't resign him for next year, trade him and get something......even with the Indians falling back....long way to .500

Why? Because when you are this bad anything is OK.

Cut payroll get young prospects...it was the Twins way before the M&Ms...

Overrated Michael Cuddoubleplay should be traded - but don't expect too much, Twins fans. He's not as good as you think

good luck cutting Mauer's contract from the payroll, no way another team touches that deal.

This is a painfully ignorant comment. Dude, go whine about Cuddyer some place else. Hes a solid player and a valuable asset

This will NEVER happen. He's the team captain and will see the end of his career in MN.

No way will they keep him after this year. Mauer has ensured that they can't afford to keep anyone else for the amount Cuddyer will get. He'll either be traded or (most likely) walk after the season. Kubel as well.

Painfully ignorant? Are you his wife?

At best, he is a valuable bench player who can adequately fill in at 4 positions; but he is a streaky hitter with inconsistent power numbers. Stats don't lie. He's not worth the money he is going to demand at his age.

With the exception of his pair of three run homers this week, most of his home runs are late game solo shots off pitchers too stupid to read the scouting report - he can't hit the outside breaking ball.

O.K. I'll say it first - go ahead and get rid of one of the most valuable assetts any team would like to have. Man - a true utility player is few and far between. So get rid of him - not smart.

You're a funny guy. Way overpaid and doesn't produce. Go get your F'in shinebox, Lou.

The Twins should have traded Delmon Young in the off season and used his salary for Cuddyer.

Pains me to read this. Cuddy will b a FA next year, & with Mauer's weak knees we need to move Kubel to RF so Mauer can DH. I wont like to see the longest tenured Twin leave, but we've got no choice.

Trade him to Boston for Okajima. He wants out & we could use a good lefty in the bullpen.

the twins are getting their timming and conssistently hitting back to the right direction to sweep the indians, and to get three out four form the rangers that should prove that the twins will try to do whatever it takes to win their division, to me this is not the time to trade any player not just right now!!!!

The owners can do what they want but Coach Gardenhire loves Cuddyer and won't want to trade him. Also, in the last few days the Twins went from 16 games out to 9. Cuddyer not only had a lot to do with that but he's one of the only big money guys who has not been on the DL during this run and in fact has not been hurt much in the last few years. This division is very competitive and with the stars about to come off the DL they could still win this thing. Gary won't want to try to take the division without Cuddyer, the guy he picked as the Twins most likely representative to the All-Star game.

Are you insane? What ever happened to reporting the news and not trying to make the news?! The Twins are not going to trade their closest thing to a clubhouse leader, a guy whose on a tear, a guy came up through their system and can play so many positions. He's a prototypical Twin and they won't trade him. Young is the one who could be traded but I don't even see that unless they completely fall out of the race, which is very unlikely to happen in the weak AL Central.

You've come to the wrong place...The crazier the story the better here...
