McGuire bolting TSN?

08:17 AM ET 06.14 | Mentioned for NHL jobs in the past, Pierre McGuire may soon be taking another prominent TV gig. Speculation at the Stanley Cup final is that McGuire could be leaving TSN to take a permanent position as an analyst with NBC and Versus. McGuire already does work for both networks, but it's believed NBC and Versus would prefer to have him on an exclusive basis. One scenario that has been floated is McGuire would leave TSN as a regular game analyst, but would do some special events, such as the World Junior championship, for the Canadian network. Talks are continuing and will likely be resolved soon. When asked about prospects for his future and his contract status with both TSN and NBC/Versus, McGuire declined comment.

A story about that windbag McGuire? On the eve of a Stanley Cup Final game 7? That does it! We've officially reached the bottom of the FN barrel.
And having him work in the US exclusively doesn't thrill me either.
On the plus side, they haven't found a picture of him yet (although that luck can't last....)

uh huh...and the only reason NBC Versus are interested in having him in the first place is because he has the cred that comes from being the man at TSN. Whatever that means, I'll let all the McGuire haters come up with zingers.

So, I guess "Analyst of the Year" is out of the question? I agree with Stranger.............if this is a story that T&R thinks anybody cares about on the eve of game 7 in an absolutely great Cup Final series...........well, that's just sad.

He won't affect us much down here. i would say that most (if not all) American hockey fans are watching their teams on a local telecast. McGuire is not going to be an issue until the later rounds of the playoffs (just like now) when the telecast rights are specifically with Versus or NBC or whatever.
