Carroll sees 'huge' role for Tate

08:01 AM ET 06.15 | Pete Carroll is a positive sort who likes his adjectives, though he reserved only one for the role he sees for Golden Tate. Tate made some jaw-dropping plays at practice during training camp and the early part of the regular season, but he struggled with running precise routes and making the proper reads in order to get regular playing time. But Carroll believes Tate should see the field more in 2011, particularly in third-down situations as the slot receiver, similar to how Brandon Stokley was used last season. ... "There's nothing that we would like to see more than to elevate Golden's effectiveness," Carroll said. "We just didn't get him over the hump last year, and we need to do that. He'll be in position to take over a huge role for us."

Golden Tate and Micheal Floyd are the reason Jimmy clausen is even in the NFL. Clausen should have to give Tate half his pay. Clausen should also be convicted of Identy theft for posing as a quarterback.

Carroll sees "huge " role for Tate

So Petey can he play more then 1 position at a time say like QB where he throws the Ball down feild then runs down there and catches it, He's only 1 player what about the others on offense

The kid has skills. He just needs PT. Again, there's no one to throw him the effin ball, but let's see what happens when the lockout's over and free agents shake out. Whitehurst did show flashes last season, and it was his first real NFL action, so maybe he'll be at least good enough to hold down the fort until the QB of the future is found. We've been lucky here in that we've almost always had a long-term QB (Zorn, then Krieg, eventually Hasselbeck), but those inbetween periods have been dismal. At any rate, having Tate run the routes that the QB THINKS he's going to run would be a plus, no matter who the QB is. I mean it can't hurt.

So third downs, UH? I wonder who they're going to throw it to.

Pete looks like a guy who successfully escaped the wreckage of an NCAA sanction-fest.

Reply???
That???s funny and probably true. Tate really did make Clausen look good at ND, for some reason I don???t remember Floyd???s contributions.
