Kesler: We can become legends

08:23 AM ET 06.15 | Ryan Kesler has played in Vancouver long enough to understand the impact of a Game 7 win. In answering a question Tuesday about the one point he has managed in the Stanley Cup final, Kesler chose instead to make his point. It really doesn't matter, Kesler told reporters. All that matters is what happens tonight when the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks meet in Game 7 at Rogers Arena. "One point," Kesler said, pausing briefly. "Obviously, you want to score, you want to help the team win. [Tonight] is all that matters. Everything in the past is in the past. If we win [tonight] we become legends and I don't think anybody worries about that I have one point in six games." He's got that right.

If the Nucks do win and he doesn't score it will always be he won a Cup with Vancouver, but . . . . .

Thank you Captain Obvious

I think he may need to actually, you know, show up tonight.
I think Boston wins it, and Vigneault has a "rumplestiltskin" type fit.

This is what anyone who ever played hockey dreamed about...a game 7 with everything riding on it. The only way it gets better, is scoring the game/cup winning goal in overtime on a breakaway with a top shelf "beauty" goal. All this game needs is Danny Gallivan/Foster Hewitt/insert favorite announcer calling the game and the dream would be complete.

A legend in his own mind maybe..

Didn't you hear him at the Olympics? He's already got that sewn up.

His grasp of the obvious is incredible.

Well, no matter what...No one will be able to say that the Twins will be golfing after tonight...
However...I see this as a distinct likelyhood.

One Cup does not a legend make. Get your name on Lord Stanley two or three times, then we'll talk.

June 15, 2011  09:37 AM ET

or you could become something else, too

June 15, 2011  09:51 AM ET

love it. guy speaks his mind and answers a question, jump on him. if he answers it different, whiner, jump on him. lose-lose no matter what

in vancouver, 1 cup would be more than sufficient. As it is they are probably angling to name a bridge after them even if they lose.

Great point. They should just wear a plaque around their neck at press conferences that says "What he said"
