08:08 AM ET 06.15 | A Monday radio appearance gave Rick Carlisle ample opportunity to gush, an opportunity he grabbed with both hands in part of an answer to the following: What was the coolest moment in Sunday night's celebration for you? Is there one moment that will forever stand out in your mind? "This was not the most talented team in the NBA playoffs by any stretch but it was the smartest team; it was the most together team; the most committed team; and it was a team that was extremely tough. As we're the only ones left standing, I can tell you, right now, two things: we're the toughest team on the planet and I can tell you, the second thing I know for sure at this moment, Dirk Nowitzki is the best basketball player on this planet."

Might be a bit of an overstatement but there is no question he has been a top player for a long time. People in Dallas have known this for years and the media just figured it out. It was comical hearing all the "experts" gushing during the playoffs.

QUOTE(#7):

The good thing about Dirk is that he is very consistent as well. He has steadily improved his game over the past 5 years. It is true to his German upbringing. Germans engineer their products to last, and their superiority becomes clear as they maintain their performance over the long haul. Anyone who has owned a BMW knows that.

he plays sick, he plays hurt. People tend to forget about his finger getting hurt. didn't really seem like it bothered him that much. that's why it was so ridiculous for Wade and his dopey sidekick to mimic Dirk coughing.

Yet LBNique's mysterious elbow injury was national news for about a year... He was considered some kind of superhero for even trying to play!!

Even winning hasn't given the Mavs any real media attention... it's all been about LBNique's failure.. not the Mavs success.

LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!! LOCKOUT!!!

Stop the insanity!!!
